Description
Mars à Oublier (March to forget) - The chill of the night beckons. I leave the warmth of home, and take a walk in the darkness. A walk to forget, to leave the lonely past behind. I have survived this march before, and am stronger now. The darkwave music has a gentle smile now. Love is returning home.

eduard, what a pleasure to hear something new from you - yes melancholy but also sure and strong. yes, love is returning home - we'll all be ok. and all the very best to you my friend!

double entendres
always abound when i write, and i leave each reader to choose their meaning of "love is returning home" as it can be read different ways... english is such fun to play with. and it is somewhat like returning home here to mj, i do love the place and friends so. thank you for being the first to greet me at the door, i have missed being able to participate here. however, now that i have a sparkly new job again, i do hope to be around more again.

March to forget, song to remember
I love this track. It's dark but with a major feel, even though it's in minor. Great synth work that really sets a consistent mood. The arrangement sounds fuller than other things I've heard from you, but you're still fairly minimal in your approach. Nice.

inverted chords and smiles
it is indeed minor, and i always attempt some new things without making it too obvious that i still have almost no idea what i am doing (as char would say.) this time i did work on building/chopping/EQing/velocity-curving some drums into the march... as you may know, i am often reluctant to add percussion to my works, as rhythm is even more difficult than melody for me. today's motto: a stretch goal is good for the soul. but even better than that is getting recognition from vic on the achievement, so my deepest thank you for listening and offering to comment.

I knew I was going to like this one
from the first note.
Clean and clear mix, and a totally unexpected "march".
Love the synth sounds you're using - just enough oddness but not so much that it sounds in any way "synthetic" - does that make sense? Kind of "organic synths" ;)
Eduard, I really like this one.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

organic sense
yes, it does make sense, and that organic feel was planned. half the time spent is writing the melodies and accompaniment. the other half is painstakingly trying/choosing different synth combinations, tweaking each synth parameter, changing individual note velocities and adding velocity curves to each track, then working on filters and eq. so, if you noticed that it is not a mechanical midi march, i take that as a great compliment indeed. thank you neil.

I like
the motif you have here and what you've done with it Eduard.
Your distinctive sounds have been missed as have you.
Good to see you back.

Classic ic42
A friendly tune played by soft synth voices accompanied with a finger tapping rhythm. Can't go very wrong with that.

Nice to hear a new piece from you. Hope it's a sign that things are settling down a bit.

Thanks and take care,
Henke

i can always go a little wrong with it...
but if i have passed the henke test ("this sounds mechanical and midi-like!") then i take this as the highest compliment indeed, thank you for listening and critiquing honestly, as always! my best to you and your family, and i am making some progress again on internationalizing my word-search app, but it is a lot of work. soon.

you and i were born with smiles
not much that the world throws at us gets us down for long (and it has tried, no?) i did try to make this an engaging listen, and as always happens with my own creations, after working so hard to get just 2 minutes of music out, i said "well that's quite enough of that for now!" and i stopped. :-) thank you for the warm home-coming welcome, and i intend to be around much more now. whew.

If you
take a flashlight, you'll step confidently and find your way back. I sang some lyrics I had along to this, the second time I played it. It was about walking in the dark. That was kind of fun trying that. It is full of confidence, I think. Good to have you able to go out and come back with renewed vigor. Thanks, Eduard.

You're baaaack!!
Funny I was thinking of an earlier piece of yours just yesterday (Black Forest Dance?) and its switch from major to minor and back which I also hear used as a technique in the Game of Thrones intro theme. A bit of a digression!

Hearing this new post is a coincidence and a delight. I don't hear it is dark as all that. I love your variation of lead synths and the breaks in the percussion from time to time, as well as the short call and answer you play between low and high synths.

I hope all is well with you and yours Eduard. Congrats on the sparkly new job - my mind runs amok: he's working in a kids birthday party event hall delivering cakes; no, a fireworks factory; no, he's a vegas entertainer wearing sequins; no, he's measuring atmospheric scintillation for astronomical research. Or not. And thanks for the dload.

Sequins of the vents
There is something fun about the major-minor seesaw style that I have been hooked on for awhile as you notice, and it felt like the right thing to do for the chorus. Of course, my sweetheart-and-critic just got to listen to it, and accurately said "sounds very nice, all it needs is a bridge!" So there will likely be a version 2 sometime :)

My new job? I get to work on a mac video editor for some little sports video camera company... Yay!

Thank you for listening carefully and offering up what you hear and like, great feedback for me. I look forward to being present more in the future.

Welcome back!
I guess we both took sabbaticals, and your return is easily more triumphant than my own! I like the subtlety of the percussion parts; you chose well and with care. It carries both darkness and light, if that makes any sense to you... Congratulations on a thoughtful and evocative piece!

Evocative is a valuable compliment
Thank you for the feedback... Percussion is always complicated to my brain, so I did indeed put much effort into flowing and editing the drums, sometimes beat by beat, until they marched anew. As you too are one to attend carefully to detail, I always appreciate you lending your time, ear, and comments to something of mine. 0x0

March
This has more lightness than darkness for me. The melody has a spring in its step; the synth sounds are pleasant. It moves along well - I enjoyed listening!

Spring into summer
Yes, I believe you are hearing the appropriate amount of light forcing darkness to retreat, as we march from ennui to upbeat. The synth sounds are always something I agonize over, and perhaps take far too much time adjusting... However twiddling knobs is part of the fun, don't you agree? :)

Good times, 80s synth times
Depeche mode, tangerine dream, they heavily influenced my musical love... As I strive to head in their direction... Perhaps a few decades too late. I am a little slow to learn this music stuff, but it is fun! Thank you for listening and commenting.

luckily the earth is round
so i cannot fall off the face of it for long without returning on the other side. no trips to europe... but a trip to the WWDC/apple developer conference in san francisco a few weeks ago, which was great fun... the city and the conference. and the reason for my absence was an extended lack of job, which has now been mostly remedied. so i do not have to move to seattle or portland to find work, whew. now to begin catching up on your music, and perhaps try my hand at another music video soon. thank you for saying hello, b, and please stay cool this weekend.
