Nothing is Forever
I admire the big orchestral sound you achieve in your work, and this is no exception. I can see the hero walking proud to the sound of this music (perhaps despite the title?). I get a sense of calm majesty. Fine work, Charles!

My titles
may not always match but they're usually feelings I have when I'm making and hearing the music. Thanks Phillip.

And
Wonderful is short, way too short. (From an old Swedish song.)

I've been around for 82 months and have always seen you as one of the great musicians or composers of this site, but now I see I haven't managed to fav you before now and therefore have a LOT of great music to catch up with. Looking forward to it...

Take care,
Henke

It may be short
but I was once told best to have them wanting more.

There are so many fine musicians here at MJ including yourself. I'm certainly guilty of finding and commenting on only a tiny fraction of them.
Thanks for the kind words Henrik.
Cheers,
Charlie

Don't know if it's the picture, but this song really makes me think of an huge old ship sailing away from harbour on an adventurous journey. Nice work!

I don't ever dislike
anything you do, Charlie. Your title made me think that, unfortunately, it applied to the fact that this was WAY TOO SHORT. I sure hope you're planning on expanding this to include a middle and an finishing movement. It's really bold and deserves to tell more of a story. Thanks.

Bowman said 1496 days ago (July 17th, 2013)
Titles
are important and do set a tone. I sense that this may have off put some. I do think a lot about what to name a piece. It usually reflects my feelings at the time of writing and hearing it. Feelings change. Mine do quite often but this was what I was feeling then.

This is very short and I agree with you that it should and probably will be part of a larger work.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments Char. Always good to hear from you.
Cheers,
Charlie

One's ephemeral journey to realization. As always the instrumentation is grand indeed so full of wonder. Your compositions are perfect for a narrative; what that narrative is one can always imagine.

A blessing indeed
Love the horns at 0:48 Charlie. Nice build into sweeping majesty. Yes, this is short but I find it communicates a lot in a little space my friend. You capture the sense of the outdoors in terms of vast colourful space like few other composers - maybe Copland is another. I don't know if you set this outside but that's where it put me.

Thanks for the dload sir!

Be well,
Doug

I agree
Doug, for whatever reason a lot of my music evokes the outdoors and though I do love nature and wide open spaces I wouldn't call myself an outdoorsman but for whatever reason my musical heart goes there.
Thanks my friend,
Charlie

The photo looks like the "Clashing Rocks" from Jason and the Argonauts. And the music is as epic as that 60's masterpiece. Stirring music, Charles. Thanks, Peter.

There's something about horns...
...that give a broad, expansive feeling to any track. But when coupled with the broad and expansive picture you are drawing, they become really powerful images that help your score soar above that interesting string backing. I really like the drone-like basso...oh, and that wonderful tonal change around :50. That is such a fine touch...and you do it again, not quite so dramatically, at about 1:20. This is good writing, Charlie, that has a vision and a purpose. I only wish it were about twice as long and perhaps with a dip into a minor key for a middle section that could then feed back to your opening. You are climbing a mountain here and taking slow and steady steps. (these comments based on your website version... hope that's okay.)

Nice work, my friend - it's funny - as I was listening I started to lean back and get comfortable to enjoy this piece and...it ENDS?! Seriously, pretty cool stuff - you sure know your way around the orchestra. Enjoyed!
