Lyrics
the road is full of dust, the sky looks big today -
i saw it in a puddle there were builldings in the way
stalled out on the tracks,
while people wander all around me
first they wind em up so we can watch em fight
but whoever set it up hides their face behind the night
still watering a seed
i think its growing very slowly
when i was underwater i needed to breathe like you wouldnt believe, or maybe you would
when i can really see you
i'll know i got through to somewhere good
the lord is good to me, and so i thank the lord
i ll keep on drivin round in this battered Accord
no need to hop a freight
or ride off with the christian cowboys
a lifetime on the rim, on the outside peeking in
at least i say so
it all looks kinda grey, we'll go over there someday
and paint it day-glo

I love your "sloppy pop/rock with silly stream of consciousness lyrics." I have an iPod full of it. That's where this gem is heading. Yup, downloaded! I think you're being shy about the vocals in this mix. I would turn them up so that silly stream of consciousness lyrics pop through more. If you do I'll download that two.

:)
The Twist & Shout ending brought a chuckle and smile as did the little slice of bluegrass at the end. Nice touches indeed!

thanks
thanks for the kind words, adjusting vocal levels appropriately is indeed one of my problem areas. I may read up a bit more on that before posting the next one. I try to make it so I don't have to strain to hear them, but I don't really like them to dominate the mix or be too in your face. a tough balance, but getting feedback from a listener with good ears is definitely helpful so I thank you!

All hail sloprock
been a fan for a long time - one of my favorite genres - and you have it down. Not to be dismissed when you're in the company of greats like Big Star, The Replacements and Pavement to name a few. Great feel here - love it.

Strange indeed.
But worth a listen or two; or three in my case. Has a very strong 60s feel and I'm sure that's intentional but few who attempt it do it this well.

thanks
many thanks for taking time to listen to my song. 60s feel is not really intentional but probably just a function of my age, musical tastes and how I learned to play guitar! Glad it was different enough to be labelled strange...

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Great changes and jangly tone. The chorus is killer--singalong and catchy Love the lyrics, too. Four Macjams stars, ****!

Nice jangly sound to the guitars. Solid bass. Vocal needs to be up a bit for my ears. I like the new genre :-) Fun ending. Much enjoyed!

Like the guitar driven nature of the song and plaintive vocals and harmonies. Some nice lyric lines, too. I'll put another vote in for the vocals to be up a bit. Thanks, Peter.

Silly sloppy pop rock
This song is exactly like my favorite jeans. Loose where it counts, tight where it counts. And that's my less than clever simile for the day. Musically man, you're so CANADIAN. There's no getting around it. I don't know what's in the water up there but y'all create some great garage pop. As always your chorus just kills. And to me the success of a chorus is how well you fit the lyric to the melody, and you've got these rambling difficult lyrics and yet they dovetail so well to the melody. Just great stuff. DL'd.

This is a
great sounding track - love the ending too. Agree that vocals should be a bit more to the front. Enjoyed.
