Description
This is a track that I wrote about 5 years ago, but until recently I didn't have the synth package I needed for the strings.

It's an 18-month work in progress from start to "finish", and it's been a LONG time since I've sat down to record. This weekend provided me with 20 blissful hours to dedicate to it and call it "done" for now.

Thanks for the listen!

Lyrics
Verse 1

Tonight we open up our eyes
and find that we are blind, and all alone
We are the lost and we are the insecure
We are the broken, hoping for a cure, for a cure

Pre-Chorus

We've already lost the war
What is left worth fighting for?

Chorus 1

When we've one left
When we've one last breath
When we've already lost this war

Verse 2

Tonight we sing a melody
Of our depravity, depravity
We are the moment, we are the state of art
We are the fallen, looking for a heart, for a heart

Chorus 2

When we've one left
When we've one last breath
When we've already lost this war
When we've one left
When we've one more step
When our clarity is no more

Ending tail

Whoa, let the world burn my soul
Whoa, let the world burn me whole
Whoa, let the world burn us all

There's an urgency to the arrangement - the opening is powerful. Emotive vocal. Plenty going on in the mix - I can see why it took 20 hours! I like the change around 4:08 - it adds variety. Professional work, Seth!

Worth the effort
18 months AND 20 hours! Holy moley! It sounds great, though. I expect it to steamroller up the "chart."

Ha, 18-months of more-on-than-off work, let me tell you. I'm thankful for the moments where I can sit down and work on my passion, even though they've been few and far between lately.

Thanks for your comment and for the listen!

You can hear and fully appreciate the time and effort that has gone into this, Seth. It is pretty epic in scale and impact. Your vocals work really well and the arrangement is classic in style. Much enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

Hi PaulaMunk! Yeah, I'm an older vet of our beloved macjams, but embarrassingly, my commitment to involvement and commenting has certainly ebbed more than it has flowed over the past several years. I'm hoping that life will provide a bit more margin for me to pursue my hobby a bit more.

Thanks so much, I'm glad the stars aligned! Nice to meet you.

what a huge
mix. your vocal fits so well. can tell you are comfortable with your voice and know how to seek out a melody. you have taken your time to make something you can be proud of. 2:55 has a great sub text and then a swell that gives me goose bumps. the drums all the way through are mixed into the right spot. great performance.

strings
Yes, I can see that a few years ago no such quality strings existed or were affordable. This is really a great sounding song with a perfect mix.

Synth
You're right on both accounts! It's great that so many good VSTs are becoming available, and are actually accessible now.

Thanks for the compliment on the sound and mix, and for taking the time to listen and comment.

Love the vocals!
Very dynamic arrangement. Love the strings, although in the intro it seemed like the cellos and piano and all were all like the same freq range. Not much contrast (just in the intro). The vocals are so tastey and well done, I think I'd put them on top of the mix just a little more. I really enjoyed this! Thumbs up!

18 well worth it
months... This is epic in every sense of the word! I could see this as either the opener or closer for an epic film. Really really cool...

Choice lyrics, emotive vocals, catchy riffs. You've got it all goin on...

huge
sound - a wall of strings! Nice compostion - the vocals sound a little bit boy band, maybe a bit more grit needed? Sounds just like something you would easily hear on the radio. Quite an accomplishment.
