Lyrics
Jump Right In
©2013 Neil Porter

Going down to the river
Gonna jump right in
Feel it cool and wet
On my burning skin
I can shut my eyes
I can swim down deep
I can ride the tide
Right out to sea

Heading north for winter
Get some Queensland sun
Got some folks to see
Get some thinking done
If I shut my eyes
If I dig down deep
I can sit it out
I can get some sleep

Gonna walk in the forests
Gonna hug some trees
Breathe real deep
And do what I please
I can shut my eyes
I can turn away
If I help you out
That’d make my day

Those days of summer
Where do they go?
Want to find a beach
Keep my profile low
I can shut my eyes
I can’t ask for more
I can ride the waves
Right into shore

When I get to the end
That’s the point of course
And when I get there
What’s mine is yours
And I’ll shut my eyes
And I’ll swim down deep
And I’ll feel the waves
Wash over me

Thanx Cees
Rhythmic seems to be what I do best. Glad to be back at MJ after quite a period AWOL. lots of interesting musical stuff happening here, and I'm hoping to post some tracks from "the Brett Ralph Project" in the next week or so. Add some time travelling in the red dirt of our "outback", and I've been away from writing for a while now.
Really appreciate your comment, and I'll try to do some listening to your posts soon.
Cherrs from Oz,
Neil

Man! Had me right from the first couple of notes. They're almost kora-like; hypnotic. Neil, what a top song. Beautifully put together. Hits all the right spots for me anyway. Top mix sir!

Nice Neil ... Wonderful melody and progression ... bass sounds natural and the acoustic guitar sounds great. Interesting electric lead ... sounds reversed ... excellent tune and recording.

Thanks for the listen
and comments Stan. Yep, spent a while trying to figure out an instrumental and eventually decided on the backwards guitar option. Glad you enjoyed.

Quality song writing, Neil. The syncopated rhythms and interesting chord progressions work really well. The natural sounding bass and drums keep the song moving forward and guitar arrangement is inspired. Worth the wait. Thanks, Peter.

Thanks for the listen and words. I will be posting some new songs from the Shed soon. When you hear the story you'll understand why I've been a little absent here, and especially lax in commenting.
Cheers from up the coast a little.

Nice, nice nice...I really like the whole feel of this, refreshing. Nice chord structure, subtle changes on the second half of the verse adds lots of flavor. Cool percussion, bubbling bass and crisp guitar work make this work. Nice post Mr Porter!

Another pro sounding post. Your arrangements and productions are always so interesting and well done. Great groove and melody. Digging the reverse guitar solo. Take a copy? Don't mind if I do. Downloaded!

Beguiling intro and excellent buildup through the first verse. I like the chord progression. Snappy drums and resonant bass. The introduction of the harmony line works well. Interesting guitar sound to take the song out. Entertaining lyrics. Fine work, Neil!

Glad you got tired of sitting.
Your collab guys have been robbed by the thief of time, (procrastination.) But, I hear nothing lacking here, Neil, and like I said on FB, "love that crazy rhythm!" Love the guitar and your voice. Don't sit down too long. T (D/L)

Have lots of good stuff coming Terry
Terry,
Good to see you again. It was a loose collab arrangement with some old friends who are new to all the online collaboration stuff, so it wasn't any sort of drama (although I feel a little guilty that I posted prematurely. Maybe there'll be a new version sometime.
Best regards from Down Under!

The acoustic start is a nice change of pace for you, Neil, and the song builds nicely from the acoustic intro. As usual, great arrangement, performance and mix, and an interesting solo section. Enjoyed this, my friend!
