Description
My first new piece of music in many months. It is perhaps not the most profound or brilliant but then, neither am I. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it.

Lyrics
When I was just a young boy
My momma said to me,
If you want to grow up strong
You've got to eat your greens.
I said I'd try before I die
To find some other means.

First I tried to lift some weights
But that took much too long;
Nutrition sups* were also tried (supplements)
But I must have got it wrong.
The only thing that worked for me
I found out through those means
Was to do just what my momma said
And eat those pesky greens.

Peas and broccoli,
Cabbage and kale,
Spinach and bok-choy,
Mustard greens and dandelions:
Any damn thing
As long as its green...
It's good for you!

Well, the moral of my story,
And I tell no freakin' lie,
Is to eat a lot of god-damned greens
From birth until you die.

Hehe
Nice to hear from you again Richard, and with such a nice little piece too. Really sweet backdrop to the well-spoken words. As for the moral, I've become quite a salad eater these recent years myself, and broccoli can never be wrong :-)

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Thank you Henke
It's nice to be back. Glad you got a little chuckle out of this.
That backdrop is a single track of an Alchemy preset (with a little GB Tremolo Guitar for the bridge). It was going to be a blues tune but it turned out green. Go figure ;-)

Good to see (and hear) you Richard. Clever lyrical content and set in it's own "atmosphere". I for one don't hate all veggies, greens...but Dandelions? Bleck.:)

Hey Chris
it's good to see you too. Don't knock the dandelions until you've tried them. I've never had them either but, you know... .

Green Song
It would be interesting to take a poll of people's first reaction to the artwork... :-) Good to hear you around again, Richard. I like the back track and your voice sits very nicely in the mix. If I wear some green cellophane over my glasses while I am drinking red wine and eating cheese, do you think it will suffice? Thanks, Peter.

Hi Peter
So many people, so many reactions. I'm sure the cellophane trick will work for you Peter, just not for long.

soylent green is people!
"Eating greens is a special treat,
it makes long ears, and great big feat...
but it sure is awful stuff to eat!"
-Thumper, from Bambi

There are ways to cook up vegetables that make them absolutely delicious (usually involving mixing them with ham or bacon :-) And, there are ways to cook up ambient backing tracks to make me smile (usually by adding some whimsical voice-over by Richard.)

An enjoyable track, despite the color. Vegetables are considered by dragons a necessary evil, a kind of cleanser to allow eating more meat. :-)

ttfn,
Drakonis

Great big feet don't make for soylent running
but I guess that's why he's called Thumper. You just stay away from him after you've cleansed your palate.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Eduard, but who are you calling whimsical?

I like the backing for this - it has a sort of "get-in-your-head" quality that supports the lyrics, which are very entertaining. I enjoyed this one, Richard!

Torn from today's headlines...
...I've never had a problem eating vegetables (all but Brussels sprouts--BLUCK, YUCK, UGH, PHOOEY!) but I imagine this subject is one of those rarely spoken of things that only occurs when you've invited to someone else's house for dinner and thus, one that needs to be addressed! A droll and ticklish salad and your vocal makes for a nice dressing here Richard; thanks for doing this!

Hey, hey, Michael Jay
Thanks for the visit. Not just a terrific crooner but a wordsmith too: a droll and ticklish salad with a vocal dressing. Nice.

Thank you, Mr. Hounds
Glad you enjoyed my lyrics, and the backer. As I said above, the backer's a single Alchemy track which I originally thought (after hearing it) would become a blues tune. Instead, I got a little silly ;-)

Perfect
As a vegetarian, I can say I like this on TWO levels. Music is cool (sounds like healthy digestion), and the words hit me in the right way too. I like the approach taken on this mix. It sounds like it is your body doing the talking and giving the advice. More of us should take the advice of our bodies. :)

I like greens
But some of the things I found in the fridge were not so good, even though they were in fact green. An amusing little tune.

Sorry I have no witty quotes or interesting anecdotes, but I did find your tune to be fun and quirky in nature, about a topic that should be very important to us all lol. Seriously, this was a treat (to listen to - not eat), and I enjoyed it!
