Description
So... this has been a long time coming. The song has been more or less finished for over a year (or several years depending on how you count). I've been putting it off a long time because I thought it had a lot of potential - I still do -which I could never really bring out to my satisfaction. However, less than perfect is better than nothing at all, and so here it is, finally.

The bass part is composed and played by the always excellent and tasteful Brian Patterson (bassjam04), and the drum/percussion parts are handled with similar excellence by Steve Ritter. Apart from that, this song is entirely semi-competently composed, arranged, mixed, mastered et cetera by yours truly, and so I must take full responsibility for any and all adverse effects it might have on your mental and emotional well-being. ;) With that in mind, enjoy!

The Real Ones
Fine playing here - the guitars are bright and animated. Solid bass and drums keep things together. Interesting lyrics and "real" delivery. A beautiful flow to the arrangement. Tasteful guitar solo around the 3 minute mark. I like this a lot!

This is a fine song. I like the lyrics and the arrangement you have put together. The panned guitars work really well and the bass and drums underpin the music very nicely. You are right to think that this song is a good one and you have done it proud. A fine post. Thanks, Peter.

Aw, you're too nice! I wanted it to be better. Perfect. Partly because of the other musicians and their classy contributions. I'm still not completely satisfied, but I think it's at least passable now. And I'm tired of waiting for divine inspiration to strike. :)

I would have shortened the intro and brought in the lyrics at about 9 seconds in instead of an extended intro, but that is just me. I listened with headphones and enjoyed the song and the mix. Nice work.

The Good Ones
Just came home from a few days in London without internet and found this nice surprise in the email. Real good composition again and I am impressed by the way you can sing in English. Sounds very fluent and laid back. I would need the lyrics written out to be able to say if this singing style match the content - but that's me I suppose :-/ Your voice is quite up right front in the mix, but it's worth it. That way the backdrop also works very nicely. I also like the "tougher" guitar sound in the solo(s), it makes for some good variation to the smooth singing :-)

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Excellent tuneage here, love the arrangement. Your guitar playing is sublime and understated, perfect in this setting. Brian (a fellow bassist from North Texas) and Ritter (Drummer) are both good friends of mine, and always deliver the goods. Great choices all the way around and the mix in nice. My only nit, is to post the lyrics. Excellent!

Hey, thanks! I guess I should comment more on other people's songs as well, I know there's a lot of good music here... and you are so right about Brian and Steve. I don't know either of them very well, but from what I've heard so far, they certainly don't disappoint! :)

Great job
This sound pro, I'm somewhat partial to the excellent guitar playing. The vocals are strong. Kudos to all on the results.

Good job
Great song, lovely guitar and arrangement. The vocals go off - key every now and then. You could use the dreaded Autotune, but everyone uses that and it instantly dates the music. Overall, however, a fine piece of work.

Thanks! Yeah, my vocals aren't perfect, sometimes I just get tired of trying to get them to sound good. But I'm working on my technique etc. I think I actually tried autotune here, but as usual I found it either unnoticeable or much too noticeable. I've never managed to get it to correct pitch without simultaneously making the part sound unnatural.

Performances are right on
The vocal, as others have said is the weak link (but not that weak). I know what you mean about controlling the vocal. It seems that the more one constrains one's voice the more choked it feels. A vocalist once told me that is because the voice is not warmed up. If its warmed up the quieter passages will be easier to hold on key. I find I sing better warm, but I don't make a habit of warming up before I sing or record. Great composition and production.

Thanks, and I agree. I'm working on improving my vocals as well as everything else I consider weaknesses (although some things are hard to control, such as the room, the neighbours etc). It would be simpler if there was only one specific detail to improve, but it's more interesting to have a wider array and more room for improvement, I guess. :)
