This has a classic Americana rock flavor, J-man. I really like the intro/first verse vibe and the sparse rock arrangement. It reminded me of The Eagles circa "The Long Run" (without Mr. Tim B Schmit's harmonies :-)). Sounding good to me. Thanks, Peter.

At first I was afraid that it was too sparse, but decided to leave it be.Thanks for the comment.

vocals are totally hot in this (and i don't mean distorted). love the riffs too. but something sounds empty or missing on the whole. it's like a great song, but i don't hear that POW! that it implies. everything sounds great vocally and musically, but somehow tame. and this ain't no tame song.

Yea it's bugging me too man.Peter used the term "sparse" as a positive, and I do like that element, but feel like there's room for something else. We're on the same page.Your honesty and taking time to comment means a lot.Much appreciated!

What a great tune ... are those live drums? They sound very real. Like your guitar playing and the vocals are great. I think what would drive this tune more is a stronger in your face bass ... otherwise a good tune.
Cheers

The drum track is a mix of triggered live drums, and MIDI.I'm using a program called "Slate Trigger".Thanks for noticing! That has been my Achilles' heel for a while now.The bass could be more aggressive now that you mention it....Thanks for the input.Much appreciated!

Fantastic singing
The vocals are great and nice guitar work. Maybe some keyboards into the mix - rock organ or some such :) Great as it is though.

Agreed...
...with some comments above regarding the narrative and general style calling out for a more in-your-face instrumental backing. The vocal is powerful as is. Now throw in some bricks and sledge hammers and a few kitchen sinks behind it, push it through some serious reverb, and the song will REALLY "hammer down." Loads of potential here. Loosen the reins; take off the gloves; let 'er rip!

great song! performance of guitar & vocal are great. gritty rocking voc and the clean guitar sounds crisp.
if anything, i would suggest a distorted guitar or two in the choruses to give it a bit of muscle.

Sounds great as is. But if you wanted to add some sauce, there's plenty of room. I think that means that you have a living, breathing composition and performances here. A simple thing to do would be to change the cymbal repetition frequency here and there, may be go to an 8th-note ride during the guitar breakout riff. Little things. Nice pic. Great tune.

Wow
I wish I had a voice like that. I'm really digging this song, has that "back in the fast lane" vibe to it. The choice of guitar sound fits well. Enjoyed, please don't break the guitar, you may need if later.

Rock
Song are more rare on MJ than i would like. This one has a great late 70's Bad Company vibe. But i agree with the consensus that this song needs to be dynamically brought up during the choruses. Even though the guitar tones are great, you need to punch that badboy up with a nice thick dirty marshall tone for the choruses. And vocally, harmoipnies would serve to thicken the choruses.
Really like this tune, dude!

Good as it is
But it needs to go ape round the 1.00 mark, then aper when the hammer comes down. Then some calmer moments before the apest finale imaginable. I'm sure there are those here who can be a bit more helpful with the technicalities! I look forward to the next version, complete with monkeys and kitchens sinks.

I'm picking up a strong 70's vibe, may not be your intent but I like it.
The chord progression and playing is great showing your command of the axx. I'll be watching for the completed tracks.

Good tune...
I think you just need something to push the groove
a little more, to drive the 1...Normally you would use
the bass drum or bass, but in this case you could do it with another guitar and just drive'er " looking for that funkrock drive...got to lock the 1...in every bar...
