Description
I have been catching up on my Philip K Dick reading, with a couple of stories about simulacra, one which brought to 'life' Abe Lincoln and someone called Stanton. Very interesting. What could/would we do with those two gentlemen in todays Amerika? Mmm. The mind is boggled.

Around five minutes in length, trying out the new Zebra 2 and Diva 3 synth updates.

Deep deep deep...
The sounds you are making here are rich and full and your measured pace is thoughtful, well-placed gongs punctuating the sonic landscape at what seems just the precisely correct moment. I don't know of PKD's writing, so I can't comment about how this composition reflects that, but it IS quite different from other posts, esp. in the length of time you take to play out each chord. Creates a somewhat chilling effect. Nicely done, Paul. Another unique piece to add to your vast collection.

Hi Paul....
Thanks for the kind and thoughtful words. Having read more of PKD over the last month or so I can positively say the he is an acquired taste. Some of his stories bore me, others seem too complex and others I plain do not understand. Blade Runner (his Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) introduced me to him.

Take care.

Some of those synth voices feel like they're about to "stall", but they never do! [I really like that effect btw. It adds tension] Fantastic, dark soundscape. Liking this a lot.

Hi Dave......
I seem to be in a bass environment at the moment. It's strange for me as I have hearing fall-off in the lower mids/bass end of the sound spectrum. I always used to go for either mid/top-heavy or mid sounds until this year (mostly). Now I go where the sounds are.

Take care.

Bells of the deep
That you can find entirely new ways to represent aural space in each piece is quite staggering Paul. This one is another kind of vastness which partly comes, I'm guessing, from the delay and reverb 'to taste'. One of the things about your music is that it generates colour in my imagination, and it is vivid as the colours exist as a phosphorescence against a near black background (think of TRON but with less jazzy design). Thanks for the new addition to my R56 collection!

Hi Doug.....
I may have mentioned this before but Charlie Parker also saw colour when he heard music. It is something that very rarely happens for me. I have to be way down in a meditation deep and then new, colourful vistas surround me as the musical soundscape plays through.

TRON was good, both the original and the new one. The soundtrack of the new one is so powerful.

Take care.

Wow ! This blowed me away ! Just the faint fade out is in contradiction with the whole track...

Hi Harald.....
I did go for the contradiction effect. I thought it added to the piece so I left most of it in the mix.

I'm glad you enjoyed the music.

Take care.

Dark, mesmerizing. Classic R56 chord changes, but with a new kind of sound. Masterful.

Hi Duane.....
It's all in the synth/MIDI combination. I just mix and match until the soundscape sounds something like what I'm aiming for.

Take care.
