Afternoon Contemplations
Purely creative. O.K, I'm beginning listen #3: This goes off to wherever it wants to - which makes it interesting to listen to. I have total respect/awe for how much breath control this must take. I'm sorry I can't leave more intelligent feedback but, hey *3 listens says something! *now 4. Time to hit the hay. Am anticipating some revealing dreams from these listens.

Intelligent feedback
I'm flattered that you deem it worth several listens.

If you want to get analytical, here's the main fact about this piece: it uses 2 sopranos and 2 altos, all rather low in their range. Bordering these four are a sopranino higher than all of them, and a bass lower, playing the same notes at 2 octaves distance.

a nice piece
I find the sopranos at bit grating even with your amazing control of them. They just sound a little screechy like they could have been played a bit softer but then again my cat left home when I tried to play soprano.

Still a very interesting and unique piece.

Counterpoint
Interesting counterpoint created by the melodic line in the middle of tune, surprising after the minimalism style start. Delightful. Thanks.

Amazing.
The control of breath it takes to make something like this is rare. I like the higher end notes, they are hard to play without getting ear-piercing and painful to hear yet you have the control to do it. The complex harmonies made me too, want to listen several times so I could take in more of the details.

It's actually made from simple ingredients.
You've done this before, taken simple ingredients and made something sophisticated and detailed out of them, so maybe I should expect that from you.

Beautiful layers of harmony ... and some very odd (odd in a good way) harmonies. Impressive playing Vic.

Lovely tone
Bracketing the melodic alto/tenor lines with the doubled bass and soprano is an interesting way to give that combination a singular voice with its own tonality. Harmonies that form as the lines interact are varied and pleasantly fresh. Nice concept and certainly well performed!

Your control and skill are always evident in spades, Victor. I'm not sure if I actually find this particularly contemplative in parts, though. Intriguing is a better description for me. Thanks, Peter.

I like the way the instruments intertwine -each takes you to a different place, but they also provide a unified whole. Fascinating work.

Vic
I think I am hearing some Baroque style here. Maybe that is because of the tuning on the ethnic flute? Are you trying to imitate a church organ? some parts sound that way. Very original and definitely catches the ear.

If it ain't Baroque dont' fix it
No, I was definitely not going for anything baroque. Oh, and there are no ethnic flutes involved. It's all plain recorders. But I'm creating a somewhat unusual texture here. There is an explanation of the process somewhat higher up.

Thanks for the compliments!

Great chords changes, and harmonies.
The high notes were kept under control.
The blend of instruments was flawless.
