Symphony No 1 - 1st Movement

Description
The 1st movement of my 1st ever symphony.
Written a long time ago? Well I was riding a bicycle and carrying a bag of books! I built this piece in my head over a long period of time, but I had no means of writing it down. Being so young and having no real experience in music (notation),It stayed with me until I could write it down. As time went on, I added accidentals and took bits away, but it stayed the same in essence.
I look at this piece now, years on from this green child and I smile...

Bravo!
I'm so glad you kept this one in your head for so long Christopher. It is delightful. It has that bright and gentlemanly quality of Mozart (not to mention a very skilled use of woods). You have crafted some lovely melodies and variations here, well orchestrated as you pass themes around the orchestra.

One small nit - there's an instrument at 7:04 1/2 (oboe?) which comes in with one note that sounds a little loud such that, to me anyway, it seems a bit out of place with all of the grace you have woven around it.

I'm all set to hear the second movement now. When is it due to be out?

Cheers Christopher,
Doug

Hi Doug
Thank you for listening to this piece.
The oboe type instrument you mentioned gave me much restlessness. You are quite right about it sticking out and to be honest, I didn't think anyone would notice! I wanted to keep at least a little of the immaturity from when it was written, for me and no one else. I even sometimes put bum notes in on piano pieces to see if anyone notices! I think that by you pointing it out, you have given me the will to remove it now. Thank you for that.

Symphony
Excellent work, Christopher. I wish I could be in a concert hall listening to this music to see it performed would be quite a treat, I suspect. Fine development leading to a suitably grand conclusion. Much enjoyed.
