Description
Merry Christmas to all and thanks for another year of wonderful music!

Michael

"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was written by Andy Devine (or somebody like that). Arrangement and accompaniment by Mr. Alan McPike ("Scotland's Finest")

"Joy to the World" was written by George Handel. Now, I created this mess-terpiece myself, and as you all know, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to synths and stuff, so upon listening, if it feels like you have a railroad spike lodged* in your skull, don't say I didn't warn you! I'm learning though!

Artwork: I don't know...this is what popped up when I Googled "Joy to the World"

* By the word "lodge", I mean, it's like you certainly don't want to push the railroad spike in any further, but you sure has hell don't want to pull it out, either! It's simply lodged there. You may want to keep this in mind when the second tune comes up, just in case!

Holiday Medley
Artwork: I don't know...this is what popped up when I Googled "Joy to the World"...........Now that's funny!!!!!!

Great medley. Always love your vocals and the bit of classical in part 2 was very well done.

Cheers Andrew!
Thanks for the very nice endorsements! I know I'm no Andre Previn with these synth things, but I'm slowly (VERY slowly!) learning how to work things (sorta!) I used to play organ for a church in my teens and of course, the Christmas masses were always my favorites. Thanks again and hope your stocking is full this morning! Michael

Retro all the way!
Love the delaying loungelike syncopation in your vocals! I think that makes the piece. Reminded a bit of the Mooging that went on with instrumentals in the second movement. Analogish goodness. Can't go wrong with 3-dog night references either :)

Thanks so much Michael!
I think that delaying lounge-like syncopation was due more in part to my having been up over 24 hours when I recorded that thing, but I'm glad it worked out that way! I'm also relieved the 3 Dog Night reference went over well, as I originally was opting for Country Joe and the Fish (dogs go over better than fish anyway!) Much appreciated your listening--thanks again and may all your presents be easy to open this morning (unless you already peeked of course!) Michael

Merry Christmas!
Two treats for the price of one. Your vocals are of course excellent, such great timing you have. As for the Handel, well I think that's a pretty good attempt actually. As you know, I'm very fond of synthed up classic stuff!] If it had been me doing it, I think I'd have made the lead synth a little less harsh, sort of round it off a bit. It seems to take up a lot of space in the mix. Some delay on the bells would be good too. But, bear in mind that I don't really know what I'm talking about. I just twiddle the knobs and sliders on my own work until I think it sounds right. It's always very personal isn't it?

Anyway, great work Michael. As ever, I love your crooning. Now we are seeing another side to your creativity, which is great!

Happy holiday.

Happy Holidays Dave!
I truly appreciate you're taking time to hand out a few pointers with that track. If I can get mine to sound half as good as yours, I'll be very pleased, so thanks Dave! With the crooning racket, I recently got a new vocal teacher out here in Birmingham, a male singer this time, so that's very good and I'm learning quite a few new things. Happy to hear from you--take care now! Michael

Very
nice Michael, funny you mention Andre Previn in your reply to Andrew, we was looking him up last night while listening to him play piano on the TV, was wondering what he is doing now, good to see he is still with us.
Two excellent treats here and always a pleasure to hear you sing.
Very much enjoyed and all the best for Christmas and the New Year!

Season's Greetings Bob...
...and I thank you most sincerely for those words of encouragement! I've been reading about Samuel Goldwyn, the famous movie producer and they were talking about his production of "Porgy and Bess" and how Andre Previn scored the music so beautifully--I guess that's why his name came up. I too am very glad he's still here and treating audiences to his stellar music. Hope you're doing well and it was so nice to hear from ya Bob--take good care now! Michael

Outstanding
the vocals you produce are always simply astonishing. Really cool! A natural vocalist I think. Very nicely done!

Best of the Season to you Mark
And I'm definitely pleased to have heard from you--glad you liked this thing! Mmmmmmm...not sure I'm a "natural", I practice a lot and on songs like this, I sort of dream up what I'll sing in the eight bars while I'm still on the current one (kind of like site reading music perhaps). Thanks again--and take good care now! Michael

Funny how...
... I was messing around with Rudolph this morning trying to come up with an arrangement, but I failed. What a nice medley! It's fantastic to hear your sounds again.

Happy holidays!

Hope you had the merriest Yeman!
You rather made my Christmas day complete stopping by with generous words--just seeing your handle did it for me, so thank you so very much! I need to make a note to head over to your Youtube channel soon and see if you've posted any new things to enjoy; I think the last one I saw had you playing a solo in front of a very appreciative audience, it was wonderful. You take care now and hope the new year ahead brings you plenty of rewarding breaks, both musically and career-wise--you deserve 'em! Michael

Spikes, Lodges??!!
Is this a secret society? I thought you did a fine job with the synths. "Joy to the World" should be triumphant so, I would say that "over the top" production is almost a must. Its one of my favorite Christmas Hymns. Thanks for the Holiday treat.

Thanks so much Stephen!
Believe it or not, you were indirectly responsible for that instrumental! I heard how nice your trumpets sounded on your latest track and you mentioned using "Personal Instruments", so I done went out and got those (and EZ Drummer, which I really like!) So thanks for the inspiration, even if I have lots to learn about using these tools. Great hearing from you and thanks again! Michael

That picture should come with a warning ;-)
Great work Michael.

In fine voice as usual and the synths work very well. Good to hear something a little different from you.

Cheers

Hey Dick!
Much appreciated mate, thank you so much! One thing with my recent move that I believe has helped a lot is I now have a nice mic arm, which allows me to stand when I sing, and I think that's helping me quite a bit in the crooning line (for one thing, I find I can do a lot better with that dreaded long "U" sound that has driven me insane in the past!) Great hearing from you and hope you had a very happy holiday! Michael

Two Songs for Christmas
Because of constant holiday interruptions I have been popping in and out so I apologize for my late response. I did manage to have a previous listen and now came back this morning for a good listen with my morning quiet time, door closed coffee...
Two Wonderful holiday songs for the price of one .... that walking bass in Rudolph ... love it! Your vocals sound great in that piece ... and The second piece is wonderfully played Michael ... actually quite nice to hear you compose and play the music ... you play well. All the best in the new year and hopefully MJ might be a little more inspirational in the new year.
Cheers

Merry Post-Christmas Stan
Oh don't worry about coming by a little late--it's THAT time of the year (and I've been even slower than usual due to a cold/bronchitis/sinus infection--a triple slam, ugh!) I'm so happy you liked the first, especially as it was a one take job (I'm starting to challenge myself these days!) and with your consummate musical skills, relieved that you could enjoy my humble instrumental. I truly hope to do more things in that line this year as I've finally some of the better tools at hand to create them--and getting lots of help/advice from others here in that line; Paul Paige, especially, has been very helpful to me. Thanks so very much Stand and I'm wishing for you a spectacular New Year! Michael
