Out With The Old (A Goodbye To 2013 Ambient Mix)

This mix gets rid of 2013 for me quite nicely. At around eleven minutes, it takes me away from the downs both familially and world stage wise.

Politics, tyranny, fascism, NWO, the 1%, Elysium-be-gone and everything else that takes us back into the dark ages instead of out into the light.

The mix uses four not my normal three instances of Zebra 2. I'm going for more impact and sonic depth. (Hark at me....). Hahaha.

Out With The Old
This track had me engulfed, love the sounds and the chord changes. Had to listen twice, first on studio monitors, then with my Sennheisers. For me, it strikes a positive note (if a bit "carefully" perhaps).

I hope 2014 will be a better year than 2013!

Hi aRcTip....
I'm glad you like this track. It is a bit different, in two ways. One more instance of Zebra 2 and my final production work was more experimental.

I mix using Sennheiser headphones, so I probably heard the mix as you did on your Sennheiser's. I don't do external monitors as I live in a flat, with people above me and below me, so I only do headphones. Such is life.

Take care and have a great 2014.

This is much more pronounced than in earlier posts, Paul, and the tension that arises is palpable and beautifully timed upon each release. You have such a wonderful sense of to just how long to hold a chord before morphing it into something new and there are surprises around each turn as your epic track evolves. I always admire your patience in letting your works spin out in such an organic and natural way. Space-Age music to be sure, but for us earth-bound beings, the lift into the atmosphere and beyond has become your trademark. Very nicely done...and hopefully a harbinger of things to come, whatever they may be.

Hi Paul.......
I must admit that I'm playing with my music tools in different ways at the moment. I hate to be stuck in a rut with some elements of my mixes.

Hopefully there will be more and varied pieces coming over the next little while, in between my searches for a new job.

It's good to know that you appreciate the development-aspect of my soundscapes. It is something that a put some effort into, along with the arrangement of voices.

Take care and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful 2014.

Also using Sennheisers (HD 280 Pro) even if they are starting to fall apart now after many years of good use.

Hi Kenta....
I am so happy that you enjoy listening to my mixes. It makes the time I spend in putting things together worthwhile.

Take care and I hope that you and Linda have a great 2014.

I'm still looking around for a job.....Not looking hard though for the moment. I'm enjoying the break.

Out into the light
A sense of closure perhaps pervades this music. It faces up to what is but I think woven through it is the hope for what might be. Even in humanity's most compressed sense of self concern keeping 'others' on the outside of the things we seek to gather to ourselves, I feel that there remains a sense of connectedness to the plight of others, buried though it may be. I think your music expresses the totally of these threads and in it is hope. Nicely done as usual Paul. Thank you for the download and all the best for 2014.

Hi Doug.....
I do try to put my feelings and beliefs into my music, however hidden or overlaid with other, arranged sounds, so it's good that you notice these things. Your comment are appreciated, as always, and they always have me going back to the music to see if I can experience some of what you describe. It also helps me put things into perspective, instead of just accpeting that I can do this type of thing and move on to the next tune without another thought for the last one.

Take care and have a great 2014.

For a relatively long piece that doesn't change this really dragged me in.

It reminds me of Varese in the wash of sound. Well worth a listen if you don't know his work.

Hi Dick.....
Varese. Yes I've heard of him. Someone else once mentioned a likeness in our music. He seems a very interesting guy, who marched to a different drum, if you can say that. Haha.

Take care and I hope you have a great 2014.
