Description
Skunk2 started this with a live manipulation of a free Tone Pad iPhone app. Skunk1 chopped it into its general form and added bass and drums, then Skunk2 chopped that into a little more cohesive format. Skunk1 added guitar and Skunk2 laid down a vocal and messed with it to give it more structure - adding a bunch of killer trippy effects. Finally, Skunk1 identified some sonic glitches (of which there may still be a few), mixed, mastered and voila!

Skunk Slunk
Rodent Lectropunk has got to be a new genre. Smelly, like it's spose to be!

Rodent 'Lectropunk! Love it. Though I prefer "odoriferously audacious".

..... very cool ... drums sound live ... enjoying the EFX on the vocals ... trippy guitar ... original sounding piece.

Keeping the live sound of the drums was a topic of discussion for us. I wanted to go with the "convincing over-all reverb" type of mix I usually do. But, S2 convinced me that the cleaner, live-er sounding drums was the way to go for this one. It accentuates the other instruments ambiance. Thanks for the listening and noticing.

We tried to really mix it up on this one, sonically. Our "hurl this one over the fence" kind of collaboration methodology keeps things raw, which lends itself to realizing surprising and sometimes even pleasing, results.

Them Bones
Thanks Vic. Working at the Skunkwrx for a while has now started to bear the fruit of a loose stylistic signature. Even if it is only to be continuously experimental, and to break out of whatever molds we are finding ourselves using too often. We like to twist the dials and see what squirts out.

I like this...different, eclectic, thoughtful. I like the effect in the vocals, I could have used another db out of them, they seem a little under the mix. But, a minor nit, and only my opinion...excellent etheral guitar work....I really like this, good post.

vox
That's what you get when you give the guitar player the controls on the final mix, vocals that need another db! Seriously, we always collaborate and consult multiple times before the final post, so what comes out is always a mutual decision. Time away from the mix, and a listen even a week later, always lends a more objective perspective. I wish I could go back and remix just about everything we've ever done, but life is too short and there is more music to be made yes?

Bass
S1's bass track really holds this one down. Very glad you like it! The vocals on this one were the first two takes chopped up and manipulated. Usually, I go through the song a few times trying out different vocal approaches with whatever words come to mind, then clean it up and write new words for a final go. But I got so into moving bits around that the first shot became the final! Glad you enjoyed it & stayed tuned, we have more coming.

Trippy
I like the effects on the vocal. Early after the 1-minute mark the bleep synth takes over a bit much, but otherwise a very nicely put together track.

Bleep
You're probably right about that synth, but that's the track that started the whole thing, so killing it entirely felt kind of wrong I guess. Thanks for the props!

Les Skunks, you have created a wonderfully "live" vibe here. A touch unusual but all the better for it. I really enjoyed the listen and am sorry I didn't pick it up earlier. Quality song, arrangement and production. Thanks, Peter.

Development...
I like the way this continues to morph into something pretty insistent as it moves along. Nice effects throughout that are placed well and intelligently in the fabric of the whole. The monotone harmony could really come alive if you upped it a couple semi-tones at about 2 minutes or so. Just a thought. Very unusual track that gets 5 stars for originality. Nice.

Is that some AutoTune there? Amazing what one can find with IPhone/iPad apps really. Getting it to the computer can be a hassle sometimes, but I am impressed with what you got going here here with your gadgets. Sweet.
