Description
A work in progress. Will be a lead guitar, vocals (maybe by my wife) and a separate and hopefully cheesy organ line soon. Trying to get a sound like some Cambodian pop/rock music. About a city less visited in central Thailand.

Looking forward to hearing
The completion of this song. It has a bebop vibe going on and I like the pauses in between the progressions. A nice music bed to lay down vocals and guitar.

i got more of a Latin cha cha feel. regardless, the song has a really nice vibe in itself.

Feel/sammydix
Yea, the song was built around the drum pattern that was put together from some midi files. The organ and sax came later and then it all changed from how it sounded originally and I may or may not change it. But I like the way it bounces around, and now some lyrics I toyed with places in the desert of Nevada or something! But, if I can drop this organ and replace it with a cheesy organ sound I found and do less of the sax sound and my wife does the singing in Chinese (hell I could keep the Nevada desert idea and she sing it Chinese and it will sound sort of Southeast Asian I think) it will maybe have that Cambodian sound, but probably not. I was listening to a bunch of old Cambodian pop music restored from cassette tapes and got all motivated, but in the end I cannot really capture that feel. But Latin is cool too! Thanks for the insights and feedback.

i'm not at
all familiar with Cambodian music, so you may have very well captured the sound, and i just don't recognize it from my lack of familiarity. so my brain tuned to a style that i do know. it still has a certain 'style' in its own right, though.

Try this band...
I have listened to your tunes and I think you might like a band called Dengue Fever. The guys are all from San Fransisco and wanted to do Cambodian rock songs from the 60'sd and 70's. They have a great Cambodian girl who does the vocals. They have a psychedelic feel and are a good gateway to that style of music which I am sure you will get into.

Just a guy running out of time. I like all sort so stuff as long as it is far removed from Mariah Carrey and Whitney Huston type music, or Korean boy bands. I upload a lot of synthy ambient stuff and I only know how to make major and minor chords... [see more]
