Description
I think I've been in a dark mood these past few weeks ... started this yesterday with the piano ... I'm really not a piano player but I find when I run into repeat patterns on the guitar the piano gives me fresh melodies. This is my attempt at an ambient piece and I also used it to experiment and learn more about reverb and pre delay ... I just wrote and did the vocals yesterday .... all done on my keyboard and fender jazz master ... sure 58 for vocals ... did a quick mix and decided to post it .... and it's a bit long and self indulgent

Before the thunder rolls...
Love the falsetto, the dreamy vibe. It does have a not quite done feel, perfect for your Box Set whenever its released. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Stan.....
I like this mix. It's just what I needed to listen to whilst editing photographs at the end of a long, hot day.

Take care.

I love these types of song ideas - As you know, I am a big fan of adding ambient sounds to paint a picture from time to time and it really adds to the mood. Vox are rich and emote a sense of sadness - Cool song; Albeit a departure of sorts for you and I like the continued musical growth that you consistently show. Confident.

change of pace...
an interlude... an ambient pause. Unfinished, yet satisfying. Mellow strands of music mixed with plaintive vocals. Lovely!

Languid opening, Stan. Warm and satisfying. The backgrounds effects are mixed perfectly. Dreamy, ethereal music. I got hints of Yes. Your effected vocal suits the mood so well. You really are exploring some new musical territory, and pulling it off with aplomb. I second Tobin's comment about the Box Set. Thanks, Peter.

Unexpected
But very welcome. It sounds like part of the soundtrack of a movie I would like. (I'm fond of animal noises, particularly chimps). Add weather, and I'm in hog heaven.

Echo-y piano...
...catches my attention from the opening bars. It is very much like the visual scene you chose as song art. There is something very melancholy going on here. Are these just vocalizations (nicely done, btw), or are there lyrics here? Can't tell. But I am falling into your music as the track progresses. Such an ultra mellow and sad little tale it is all telling. Evocative. Nicely done.

Time for sadness
I'm not sure what part of "I'm really not a piano player" to believe because this piano playing really sets the mood for the whole piece .. kind of like a Philip Glass sound bed.

I think the pensive mood does a great job at expressing melancholy here. Hey - who wants to write nothing but upbeat songs?

Too long? I don't think disconsolation can be rushed. It takes .. as long as it takes.

Certainly a departure from your usual style! Very easy to listen to - it has floating feel to it. You do well with the mix of the various instruments. Creative work, Stan!

dreamy
I like this track! Unexpectedly calm. The pulsing piano and synth bed is a great setting for the voice. I'd prefer for the falsetto to come in later in the song for impact, but your pitch is excellent. I also enjoy all the instrumental and ambient elements you combine to build the track.

You call it 'indulgent' but for this type of music this is about the pacing I'd expect - in fact I don't think it's too long at all. Certainly a cool new genre for you, no? Keep 'em coming!
