Lyrics
Looking Out For Love

rusting in armour to your defense
tarnished and aged dulls the sense
valley of dreams mountains of sorrow
a figure stands in the shadow

looking out for love
on everyones face
looking out for love
exhibitionist raves
looking out for love
a voyeurs day

memories dogeared over time
expose a nerve from a chapter in life
a moment set in time only proves
good love is hard to find

looking out for love
on everyones face
looking out for love
exhibitionist raves
looking out for love
a voyeurs day

secrets were made secrets where kept
in the darkest hours you slept
valley of dreams mountains of regrets
a figure stands in the shadows

seeking out the midnight lover
she stares out into the water
the promises kept and broken
from words never spoken

looking out for love
on everyones face
looking out for love
exhibitionist raves
looking out for love
a voyeurs day
looking out for love
looking out for love
looking out for love
looking out for love

"memories dogeared
over time." LOVED that line. actually, it think the lyrics in general are some of your best. great wide open sound the the song itself. never easy listening.

I dig the vibe you've created here - excellent chord choices. Especially loved the turnaround and bridge/lead. You just keep turning out quality, Vic. Excellent!

its been a while where i could actually play the acoustic, more then just a few strums here and there. the tune pretty much just popped out without having to refine it. 2 quick evenings to record the music part.

Ha ... I know how that works ... but the tele is a nice addition and I can't hear this without it. I like your lyrics ... the wide open tele chords sound great and that major to the minor chord is sweet. I picked up my guitar and tried to find that chord ... like an E minor suspended?... I like it

i thought the chorus needed a bit more power, so came the tele. it did a great attack on the solo as well. i think the chord you're mentioning is cmaj7

i think adding the tele during the chorus added the right amount of bite. i kept the acoustics in there but just dropped the levels so as not to muddy it up

Aristotle...
I'm reminded of a line from Aristotle's "Metaphysics" I read as a school boy years ago: "Memory is the scribe of the soul." Some of your lyrics resonate with great understanding about remembering the past: "valley of dreams mountains of regrets/sorrow" ... "promises kept and broken
from words never spoken" ... "expose a nerve from a chapter in life" ... All of this is framed by a smooth delivery and uncomplicated music that, combined, make a very appealing (and revealing) package. Nice one. Much enjoyed.

i applied myself more on the lyric writing with a little more on deep thoughts. i tend to avoid love songs, but i think this goes a self evaluation that some would ponder about there life.... of course i could be totally wrong :-)

I like this tune, Vic - it is more straight forward rock n roll sounding than your usual fare - I like the chord changes throughout. Nice guitar work at about 2 min in. Straightforward - but still all VH - enjoyed!

kind of a throw back style that i use to do some years back. every once in a while i'll bypass the experimenting and just do a straight ahead type of tune. thanks for checking it out.

Nothing wrong throwing a tele in the mix
vs a wrench in an operation. Cool tune, I'm digging the electric acoustic sound your getting and the tele compliments it well and adds a nice rock vibe to the song. Love the progression and it's that classic vic through and through.

Some fine lyrics in there, Vic. To me, almost a LA/London, Doors/Moody Blues kind of thing happening. The tele in the house gives it a nice bite. Another fine post. Sorry for being a bit late. Regards, Peter.

Exposed Nerves
Love that ominous opening .. it really sets the stage for .. exposed nerves.

I like the rhyming of "lover/water."

I have this same problem when it comes to the electrification of a song. What purposely starts out to be a soft approach to the guitar parts seems to keep getting amped-up by layers of effects. It's like I keep saying "I think that can be pushed a little bit further" and it becomes another grand production number.

That said, I think you have maintained a nice balance between the acoustic and electric elements here. They are working in tandem to deliver a complex listening experience.
