Description
This is my first submission in a long time and it is my first that was recorded on my new Tascam Portastudio. This little small, lightweight recorder is just what I have been looking for and will let me record and post a lot more. It is battery operated and can be taken anywhere I want in the house or outside. I used the two built-in condenser mics to record everything and think they sound great.

I was so excited to actually be recording a song again that I didn't spend much time on it and it is all first take. I couldn't find a flat pick so the solo is with my thumb and fingers and may sound a little funky as a result. But anyway, at least I finally got a post together again. The song is one I wrote and have had on the list to record for a long time with a bunch of others.

Lyrics
Hiding In The Shadows of Love

I'm hiding in the shadows of love
I'm hiding in the shadows of love
Won't somebody shine a light on me
Because I'm hiding in the shadows of love

I've lost my way in the rain
I've lost my way in the rain
I'm soaked all the way through to my brain
Because I've lost my way in the rain

Fly me to the moon, I want to hide away
Duck behind the stars, In the Milky Way
I want to live on Mars, there's no reason for me to stay

I ran into a brick wall
I ran into a brick wall
I'm stupid because I tried to end it all
Because I ran into a brick wall

There's wisdom in a child's laugh
There's wisdom in a child's laugh
It seems like such simple math

i like
your voice a lot, and the rhythm guitar is nice. I feel like your lead loses the beat at times.

Nice Recording
I'm enjoying the guitar duet and your vocals fit the mix well. Down to the bare bones, keeping it basic and to the point. Enjoyed.

bare bones
Hey John, how is it going. Thanks for listening. Just getting back into recording so it will be bare bones for a while until I feel up to getting the keyboard out or dusting off a harmonica.

Welcome back Tom. Nice song in the minor key blues tradition. Great lyrics.

"There's wisdom in a child's laugh It seems like such simple math."

That one is my favorite. Really clean sounding recording.

love in the shadows
Thanks Andrew. Adults make life complicated and worry about everything. Children laugh, have a great time and worry about nothing. I've never been ashamed of being called childish. It's not a bad thing at all.

Great to hear you excited about recording again, Tom. The Tascam looks, and sounds, pretty good. You seem to work your way into the song and grow more at ease with it as it progresses. Your voice is so rich and expressive. A man and a guitar is how I like 'em. Thanks, Peter.

Fine work Tom...
And you mean to say you recorded this beautifully clear and well mixed project on that little contraption above? That's amazing! I liked the mood this created with that sort of primitive rhythm behind this. The lyrics are good and your vocals are well done. Of course, your guitar work is sterling. One of those tracks that I can't find anything at all to quibble about. Thanks again Tom! Michael

Good to hear from you
Michael, good to hear from you my friend. It has been a while. I really appreciate that you are always so positive and uplifting in your attitude and remarks. Makes an old curmudgeon like me smile and that must be a good thing!

Have fun with your new rig!
Tom, like the song, a couple more tracks of bass and drums would make it cool. Great vocals, and lyrics.

I love to play guitar. I have been writing songs for many years and have a large catalog by this time. Songwriting is easy. Writing great songs is hard! Born in Louisiana and live in Texas. I grew up on Chuck, Jerry Lee, Elvis, Ricky, Little Richard ... [see more]
