I'll Be Gone, Long Gone

Recording a backlog of songs I have written. This is the second and the second on my new Tascam dp008ex.
Same old, same old. The battle of the sex's and the briefness of life.

When the evening is getting late and you think that I should go
When all the wine is gone except for the bitter taste
All you have to do, is tell me what you want
There should be no shame, and there will be no blame

But I'll be gone, long gone
But I'll be gone, long gone

When the last note is played and my song is sung
We sit looking at each other and I feel so numb
It's just a game of chess, and the Queen always wins
The air is full of regrets, but the King is on his side again

And I'll be gone, long gone

It's a lonely kind of night and the fireflies are getting dim
It's so hot and humid but you don't want to swim
Life is so brief, it's over before you know
The candle always burns, and it never melts slow

But I'll be gone, long gone

Hey Tom
thanks for checking out my solo jam, I came to return the favor. :-)
Seems like macjams is soooo slow. Maybe it's the season. Nice finger picking and strumming, or are you picking? Anyway sounds great, nice song, well sung , you're doing great with the set up you have. Take care my friend and thanks again! Jd.

Macjams is ghost town
I am really surprised how slow things are. It's been a long slow ride down from the exciting days of 2004-2007 but it has never been this bad before. Oh well, I am sure that now that I am posting again things will pick up, ha,ha,ha,ha, ha!

Your set-up sounds like I'm sitting in a room or on a porch listening to you play your tune. Personal... Lovely song, performance - and the photo makes me miss the water.

Appreciate the listen and kind words. I took the photo myself. It is the Texas Gulf Coast, Matagorda Island.

Thanks Jack! Good to feel like I am doing something at least a little creative with my time. I hope to be posting so much that people will get tired of seeing my name.

Another quality solo performance, Tom. The guitar is sounding good and the Tascam records your vocals really well. One suggestion I have is that you could possibly vary the melody a bit more over the four verse lines. Go up at the end of every second line, or something, just to add a bit more variety, perhaps? Thanks, Peter.

Variety is the spice of life
Unfortunately I, as some have said, have that bronco style. It doesn't vary a whole lot. But better melodies and vocals is something I always strive for so maybe I can hit it next time.

this has
a lay lady lay type vibe, but i think that's just your vocal timbre and the half rhymes in the verse lyrics (as well as the verse melodies). Solid writing -- you might benefit from fleshing out your figures of speech before you move on from them. The chess analogy is nice, but doesn't entirely fulfill its obligation to its referent. Your first verse is very disciplined, but you slip slightly in your writing in the next two. Loads of images to work with, but not quite enough continuity. Really good work, though -- vocals and guitar are on point, powerful playing.

Laid Lady
Hi tf1, the chord structure for the verse is similar to but not identical with the Dylan song. The chorus is entirely different. Thanks for your kind remarks.

Sometimes I think Hank Jr, is a singing: I like how you are getting stronger with that pickin ! I enjoy your heartfelt down to earth words and the special way you express the folk song!

For some special reason, your music sure seems SO heart felt.

Thanks so much for being a part of Macjams!!!
