Heads or Tails

Fuzz guitar and grooving bass (both made into loops but my playing) line mixed with dialog samples from No Country for Old Men. Something I want to do more of later. Drum clip done in Maschine (using as a VST through Live) and background sounds done in Kontakt 5.

I'm a sucker for these kinds of literary sound collages. Nice job on the mixing .. everything comes through clearly in the production.

Hey - will somebody please answer that phone?

I find it interesting that you are creating your own guitar and bass lines by first playing them and then looping them. I've never tried doing that as an approach to building a song. The quiet, determined bass line during the extended ending is particularly effective.

Thanks guys

Thanks. I am not a super great guitar player or bass player, but I can get it going you know. So I just play for a bit then pick out the best parts and use them as loops. They can eb long loops at time, but I have a tendency to screw up a note or chord towards the end at lot. This way I do not feel I am cheating. I use very few premade loops and those are usually drums when I do. It is a good idea if you are like me. I could never have sustained that bass line like that. It is actually a short loop, whereas the main guitar part is a long loop. You can vary it too you know, add in shorter loops and lick to give it some variety. But thanks for a great analysis! It inspires me.

I just listened to your new piece and so am flattered you liked this. A friend said I may have done too many samples in it, but it was more of an experiment you know. Something I will be exploring more soon. Using old cult movies, maybe the the way the Thrill Kill Kult did, only not as good.

Thanks :)

Just a guy running out of time. I like all sort so stuff as long as it is far removed from Mariah Carrey and Whitney Huston or Korean boy bands. I upload a lot of synthy ambient stuff that comes out of dabbling and noodling and I only know how to... [see more]
