Description
Of late I've been feeling a little Greek, so I composed what I think is an ethnic sounding dance with a classical edge as a tribute to the great Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis.

here they come!
I don’t usually check out soundtrack music but I appreciate it a great deal.. This has a great flow and brings to mind wide open spaces and has an epic journey feel. I like the arrangement and choice of instruments. Nice work.

NIKOS
Visually, this piece conjures up an image of some kind of montage sequence of a train ride in Europe, with lots of shots of scenery moving by, combined with shots of whatever hero or heroine is the star of this imaginary film. Then I watched your vid - clearly that's not what you were thinking, though I found the dance sequence to be quite interesting! Intriguing piece of music, Charles - nice work, and I enjoyed!

Actually
what I used in the video wasn't what I had in mind at all. But it seemed to work and I went with it.
Videos take a life of their own that's often a different animal.
Thanks for the listen and kind words Sig.
Cheers,
Charlie

Orchestration...
...It is so nice to keep hearing how you are developing as an orchestral arranger. You have done a nice job with layering the strings so that each section of the ensemble has its own voice. This is very much a mantra-like number with a single background. At 2:35 or so, it's fine, but if you wanted to lengthen the piece for a longer video ride, changing the tonal center (key) somewhere right about NOW would take care of the "lift" you'd need. Have you thought of a solo instrument (oboe, flute, clarinet) taking a journey above this ground bass? (Don't know about the Greek connection. Maybe...)

You're right
if I do extend this it would need a tonal shift and a change of solo instrument as well. I think a clarinet would be a good fit.
Thanks Paul,

Charlie

NIKOS
Made me think of gazing out the window on a train trip heading to the mountains somewhere, with high expectations of the what may unfold at journey's end. Stirring music. Thanks, Peter.

This train thing
seems to be a recurring theme.
Maybe I should do another video?
Thanks Peter glad you enjoyed this.
