Description
This mix has been mastered, but we are calling it preliminary because we want to explore some backing harmonies. If you are interested in lending your voice for this, please contact me at fjamstudios at gmail dot com. I don't usually have much luck asking here but I figured it's worth a try. In this mix you hear:

April Knoll: Lyrics, arrangement
Doug Carlsen - Vocal, acoustic guitar, author melody and arrangement
Fred E. Jam - Drums, bass gtr, piano, pedal steel, mix/master

Lyrics
1st verse

Somehow you knew it was me
When you heard those ladies scream
That frog went jumping up and down that pew
Landed right on that preachers’ shoes
You took me by the ear without even batting an eye
Sat me down on those church steps outside
Right where I heard a hundred times before
I ain’t going nowhere knocking on the devils door

2nd verse
I remember that first day of high school
When I got sent home black and blue
Even though that boy was twice my size
He was no match for my foolish pride
I could see it coming by that look on your face
But I didn’t care what you had to say
‘Coz I heard it a thousand times before
I ain’t going nowhere knocking on the devils door

Chorus
If you keep knocking, that devil’s gonna answer for sure
Boy don’t you know that someone’s keeping score?
You can pray for your sins but it can’t be ignored
Ya ain’t going nowhere knocking on the devils door

3rd verse
Now I’m down the line facing thirty five
With a troubled past on my side
My life’s been running up and down those tracks
‘Til I went too far to come back
One too many mistakes had me against the wall
So you weren’t surprised when you got the call
You said what I heard a million times before
I ain’t going nowhere knocking on the devils door

Repeat chorus

Knocking At The Devil's Door
Doug has a classic country voice and the song has all the required country ingredients. Some very nice pedal steel, Freddy. I agree that some harmonies would add the icing on the cake. Female probably? Good luck with it. Thanks, Peter.

Knock knock ...
Ah .. that old frog-in-the-church trick gets 'em every time!

A solid Country Western song with a great pedal guitar.
