Lyrics
Home

Look for the light of what's left of your home in the sky
Yearn for the face of your love in the clouds going by

You'll get home like you wanna do
You'll never see her face like you wanna do
You'll never see your friends or your family
You'll never feel safe and you'll never be free at home

Tears - when you think of the distance you rode
Fears - for a world that you cannot decode

Look for the light of your home in the sky
Yearn for her face in the clouds goin by

You'll get home like you wanna do
You'll never see her face like you wanna do
You'll never see your friends or your family
You'll never feel safe and you'll never be free

Sock drawer
From the description, I thought this was going to be , like, a comedy track !? But it has a great, 70s, bluesy vibe. Love the Doorsy guitar, and the ambition of this track. I like the vocal on this, it's really dreamy.

Bahamas . Nice.

The Sock pix don't match
Just like most socks. It's just my style of drawing. Glad you like the song. It's one of my favourites.

Amazing work yet again.
A strange combination of elements this, with 80s style synth work, a 70s rock tune and a 60s vocal style. That shouldn't work together at all but here it does work very well indeed. A fine musical composition, I listened three times (I think, might have been more) and downloaded it as well. Absolutely amazing guitar work in places too.

Chuffed
That you liked it so much. David thinks it's one of my better ones too. I usually can't tell, but I also like the overall melancholic feel of this one. I cannot explain why the chorus is relatively upbeat. The guitar is my crappy SX and a cheap Squier taking turns. Gladys, my new darling, should improve things a bit. (She's an Ibanez 7 - string, and has yet to appear on MJ.) thanks for stopping by, Mr Angel.

Pensive footwear
I think the more I work with David and Sam, the more the consistent style comes through. David's drumming is the foundation, and Sam usually has some form of input on most of my tunes. It's good to be a Sock Puppet. Thanks for your time, Vic.

I've often wondered what extraterrestrial socks would sing. That sock has a great knack for melody.

I bet you have'n't really thought that, but I appreciate the sentiment. I like this tune, and I'm glad you do too, Andrew.

I think I have that sock...
...it's time to rearrange my sock drawer anyway, so I'll keep an eye out! Excellent stuff Graham; as always, you're working here at your usual excellent caliber. I could very much relate to this song; having moved from Minnesota to Alabama, I've finally realized how homesick I am sometimes (and yes, I find myself staring at the clouds quite a great deal these days). This is as close to perfection as one can find--thanks again for sharing it!

Knit where?
It hit a nerve when I was making this up, so I know what you mean, Michael. Maybe the upbeat chorus is making the most of the good things about the move. Like what a good job David did mixing and mastering this. Thank you for your kind words.

Excellent work
Home is where .. your socks hangout ...

The words and music capture the angst of alienation. I think the deliberate pacing of the song's relentless slow and steady groove underscores and emphasizes the psychological estrangement.

But it is all of those bleak sounds and rasping vibes weaving through that groove that turn this yearning into a haunting listening experience.

Thank you
I can tell you really listened to this. Just as well, as there will be a test. I think it all proves that I've watched way too much Doctor Who. And what a good drummer David is. Thanks for listening, Warren.

Yes it is
It's a brute, but it's taught me how to play a fretless bass. I'm in tune some of the time! Thank you for listening.

Sad song, but the arrangement lightens the mood somewhat. I like the guitar work a lot.

Odd chorus
It's part Spice Girls, part Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It fits somehow, but I can't really explain why. Glad you liked it, Philip.

Thanks, Mr Bandit
I like this song. I've since rerecorded it with a decent bass. Now my mission is accomplished I can go back to Alpha Centauri. Or I could hang about here and do some more songs with The Rocking Sock Puppet. Decisions, decisions...
