Description
Recorded this pretty quickly... 2 acoustic tracks(cheapo garage sale yamaha recorded with a sure 58 duck taped to my table because I forgot my microphone stand at practice),honer harmonica, midi bass (kontakt) and addictive drumsdrums, vocals sure 58

Memory of a small town I once lived in.

Crazy Town
I remember how I saw you there
And I touched you in my mind
Seems I sense you everywhere I go
Oh and it feels so sublime

Crazy town
You let me down
You left me dry
You left me high
In crazy town

Where darkness reigns the door’s always shut
Too many nights drinking with the dead
Shot after shot
Too much whiskey in my head

Angels and devils
Are there to judge
Each making their case
For my demise
Here in crazy town

So I drink this glass
One final time
And toast to all
I leave behind
In crazy town

A ghostly place
without any soul
One final shot
before I’m swallowed by hells dark hole

Somebody’s drinking
While somebody drowns
It’s always the same here
In crazy town

Crazy town
You let me down
You left me dry
You left me high
In crazy town

I remember how I saw you there
And I touched you in my mind
Crazy town
Oh you let me down
You left me dry
You left me high

Crazy town
I love the description of the quick n dirty recording process! I remember once recording using a microphone taped to a broom handle wedged down the back of a chair! Didn't sound remotely as good as this though. I think the harmonica lifts this particularly (I didn't even know you played one!) and the whole thing thing works well. Great stuff Stan!

Strong stuff.
Lots of emotion in this. It's a multi-layered and highly polished feast of a song, with tons of neat little touches. Some aspects of it sound very much like something Dylan might have written, and then been proud of. I like the way you've woven the harmonica into things, subtle in some parts, forward in other parts, never overwhelming but still making its insistent contribution. You play it with feeling too!

I hope you're proud of this one, it's really one of the MacJams gems. It still amazes me sometimes that we can download stuff as good as this for free and we're not breaking any laws...

That's okay Stan...
...I use a fly-swatter for a pop guard. It's remarkable how you can make something this fantastic so "cheaply". It's the creativity in your work that always leaves me in awe; the where-what-and when things you add to your productions...just floors me. If there were ever a small-town drinking kind of song, this is the definitive one. I wish I could sing like you; it's an excellent vocal that adds a lot to the picture. Superlative work once again--and thanks for sharing this! Michael

Excellent
I love this: melody, production, lyrics. So many nice little touches--the tambourine, tasty guitar fills, all work in support of the song--which is really excellent.

Great song! What I especially take from this is the presence this cheapo guitar has - huge character, that I think is perfect for the song.

Stan, you never cease to amaze me. Fine, fine song. Love it. Great acoustic vibe, wonderful vocals, fine production. A classic Dylan/Neil Young feel. There must be something pretty good in the water up there in Halifax :-) Thanks, Peter.

Boss like
A bit like Springsteen in places. Nice guitar in the left channel. Nice harp playing. The lyrics are simple but direct in a good story telling fashion. Nice mix as well. Good job man.

I used to live in this town :). This is really a well crafted song...great songwriting and the rawness if it all is really attractive. I think you should do more of this kind of thing...Americana feeling. Excellent!

Those crazy towns get ghostlier everyday!
Excellent song, Stan, beautifully written and performed. I know of a town like this. As I pass empty lots, ancient brick buildings suddenly appear from the past. I want to say "those were the days," but who am I kidding? You can't go back, and that's a good thing. Thanks for sharing. I'd like to keep this one. T
