Call of the Spirits

Description
This is a not-so-experimental piece I've been toying with for a couple of days on my iPad. No samples or loops here but a couple of arpeggiator patterns on Sunrizer synth, and you can kind of feel that it is just my fingers on the touchscreen. Cheers.

Impressive, indeed, if you tapped all this in to the iPad, Jay. Creative and engaging. I like the eastern influence melding with the contemporary sound bed. Inspires me to re-try the iPad as a musical tool. Thanks, Peter.

Thanks
Thanks for the listen and the comment, Peter. Glad you liked this one. Eastern influence is kind of natural to me, considering where I am coming from. The iOS music making environment has made a lot of progress in the last 3 years, but I feel like my inspiration is dwindling. Gotta keep on trying.

Love the mix of East and West!
Yeah, that's hard to do well, and this does it really well. Old influences and a synth, pulled off very nicely thanks. Part of the reason for it is the attention to detail I think. You've used more than just one or two sounds here and you've added lots of small details and changes to keep it interesting. Would sound even better with a guitarist playing the guitar part, but it's pretty impressive as it is.

Great ending too, a contrasting instrument but you've kept the same rhythmic and melodic influence. Nice work.

Thank you
Thank you for your generous and detailed comment. I do try to make it interesting for the listeners and myself too, but it is not always easy to pull off. Appreciate your support. Cheers.

Quirky and catchy. That bass sounds great. If I had to complain (and I often do), I would think that some more active drum-like drums would fit into this and propel it a bit more. But I like it. Good mix.

Thank you
Hello Les, it is very nice to see your comment. I was trying different drum sound for this one, and this one kind of stuck with me, but I agree that I could have used a different drum set for the better results. Appreciate the listen and the comment. Cheers.

Funny stuff. I guess spirits prefer funnies to scary stories ! :)

funnies
Hey, that's the same reaction I got from my family for this one, and it's also how I feel about it, sort of. The initial title for this one was very much light-hearted, perhaps a bit too much. Anyway, thanks for the listen and the comment. :)

Did a brief stint in a hobby band back in the 90s, and still do some occassional jam sessions with my old buddies. But I don't consider myself a musician or an artist. 'Hobbyist' might be the best word to describe me in macjams. Still, I try to m... [see more]
