This sings!
Johannes, this is so crystal clear. Your strings ring so beautifully. Contemplative and harmonic tones. I continued to be amazed at your precision on the guitar. The Sigma is serving the master quite well. Thanks for another song for the soul...

Finally got it to play...
For some reason i couldn't get it to play earlier, Johannes... I had to 'fave' it on faith, can you imagine?

Sounds deep and rich, great whomp under your thumb on the low D string...And lovely chime on the higher strings...

You are one of the people whose 'explorations' and 'experiments' I find intrinsically interesting... I could simply listen to this over and over, and probably will...

I love Drop D tuning.
You have just inspired me to record my Drop D composition (in the works for about 42 years). Isn't that what MacJams is all about – inspiring each other? Thanks, Cori, for your gift of stringed grace. This sounds really good. It is a float across a sea of tranquility.

Sonically engaging, reflective piece that just float in space, Johannes. A fine exploration of possibilities. I can imagine you, at one with the guitar, revelling in the wonderful tonal palette that an acoustic guitar provides. Much enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

You express some of the feelings I have myself for the song. Actually it is maybe the one of my posts that I most like listening to myself. Usually I really don't like doing that.

Beautiful tone
and technique - as usual. It's nice to hear the ring and sustain as you let it happen. Very meditative piece through the first half - and then well tempered energy in the home stretch.

Quiet and reflective
Johannes,
You make your guitar sing with such a gentle touch. This track is very peaceful and meditative. It is the kind of improvisation that's easy to get lost in as time just floats away along with any stress one may be experiencing. You have a secure and simple way of playing this kind of music and it stirs me to just let things go and to listen intently. What a beautiful gift you have.

Why so short? I guess I'll have to loop it. I love to sit out back with my morning coffee and listen to the wind chimes, but I think I might replace them for awhile with this. Very peaceful! Loved it.

Sorry I missed this Johannes
I'm away from MJ a lot more than I'm here these days. This sounds as good as everything else of yours - a wonderful listen, and a great way to spend 8:37 of my time. The sustain is quite incredible - what sort of room are you in?
There are moments of Steven Stills around the 5:30 mark - which came quite unexpectedly, and I'm definitely hearing David Crosby doing multi-part harmonies in there as well. This is quite a diverse and epic piece, and a total joy to the ears.
Thanks Johannes - cheers from Oz,
Neil

Glad to see you here Neil
Thank you for your appreciative comment to my little tune!

About the room:
It is my living room, quite damped with rugs. Quite but not overly crowded with normal furniture; bookshelves, sofa etc, especially on two of the walls. But there are also much free space on one of the larger walls, and another lesser wall has mostly windows. Nothing sought out specifically for acoustics, well apart from the rugs which cover most of the floor.

Well
Well, recently I had the opportunity to test it side by side against two new Martin HD-28s.
And the the real Martin were a serious step better and with a nicer playabilty. I think it is difficult to find something better than the Martin HD28, even compared to Martins most fancy expensive models.

But for a third of the price of a Martin HD28, I am still close to a hundred percent pleased. It is an instrument to fall deeply in love with.

I also want to tell that the Sigma had some quality issues that I had to go back to the store to get corrected. Make sure that the store ensures correction work.

Thank you for the comment by the way!

brilliant guitar tone, wonderful harmonies, and completely unexpected changes. i like how the rhythm builds in the second half of the song. and the creation of more cohesive motifs contrasts nicely to the meanderings of the first half. could have listened to this for another 10 minutes. thanks for the download.

Guitar player since 11. Can't play other instruments than acoustic guitars, well maybe aside from instruments that are tuned the same way; like ukulele or bass guitar. In younger years I took inspiration from classical guitar, American acoustic... [see more]
