Description
There is irony in the situation surrounding this song. The lyrics Ed wrote, are very intense, and call attention to a very important topic, which is spouse abuse. Ed wanted Kirsten (Sylkay KSB) to sing this because she is a tiny lady with a very powerful blue vibrato to her voice. The irony is that she was in the midst of battling breast cancer as she recorded the vocal for us. Another instance of a very petite, frail LADY who has shown incredible strength here. You are my hero Kirsten. She was worried about her performance on this song. We could not have asked for a more fitting vocalist for the mood and message of this piece.

Sylkay KSB - Vocals
Ed Phoenix - Melody/lyrics
Fred E. Jam - Music production, mix/master

Lyrics
V1:

Swimming in a circle with little air

Piranha in the Water

Somethings in my life I can no longer bare

He’s just like my Father

Lift:

Too used to Black and Blue

Only one thing I could do

Chorus:

Oh, he won’t hurt me now

Listen to the sound of his heartbeat (in the days that followed)

It's fading away, he shoulda' never laid

His heavy hands on me

NEVER AGAIN WILL I CRY MERCY

I will be Free

V2:

I tried to run, I tried to escape

My life almost ended this day

Took a beating to me, he was drunk from my screams

That’s when I knew there was no other way

Lift:

No more spouse abuse

Only one thing I could do

Chorus:

Oh, he won’t hurt me now

Listen to the sound of his heartbeat (in the days that followed)

It's fading away, he shoulda' never laid

His heavy hands on me

FEAR WON’T HOLD ME IN CAPTIVITY

Now, I shall be Free

Intense, indeed!
That's the only way to approach this topic, and it was well done. The voice was tragically beautiful, and the music, perfect for the mood. Very talented people here, Freddy, and masterful production!

Powerful song. Kirsten did a wonderful job. Sympathetic arrangement, Freddy. And wonderfully put together, as always. Thanks, Peter.

Very nice Fred
Your usual good production. You get to work with some real talent -- and they get to work with you. How cool is that? ;-)
