Description
Probably my most ambitious recording... Door to Babylon features 11 different horn parts; with Kevin Clark on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Austin Vickrey on tenor and baritone sax. Rob Kosinski is all the lead guitars. I'm the drums, bass, keys, and rhythm guitars.

BONUS POINTS to whoever can figure out where I got the drum groove from.

From my upcoming CD "Still Life", due out in the next few weeks!

Thanks man!
This thing took FOREVER. Like, 9 months. SO many mixes, so many mastering attempts, most difficult thing I've ever recorded from a technical perspective.

Door to Babylon
Worth the effort, Phil. Great sounding piece. Wonderful energy and top notch musicianship. Loving the drums. Chicago V meets Return to Forever. Fantastic. Thanks to all, Peter. P.S. I might just have to grab a copy of the CD, too :-)

Great jazz/fusion. BUY THIS ALBUM!
I don't know if any of you remember me... I keep reappearing after long absences. I played the leads on this. It was an absolute honor to work with Phil Traynor (as I have with a few of you over the years). I don't visit this site very much anymore, but as Phil posted it here I wanted to chime in.

I'm SO not worthy… and I an UNANIMOUS in that.

Uh, wow... :)
Well, I will state categorically that you are not, in fact, unanimous; in that you were totally worthy. I don't take these choices lightly, my friend. :) The honor was mine, and I can't wait for the next time! You KILLED it. Smashed it. Hit it so hard, the ball hasn't landed yet.

Congratulations Phil...
...you and your collaborators have every right to be very proud of your excellent work here. This thing just lives and breathes and for me, that is the highest compliment I can pay to an instrumental (and despite my singing proclivities, I still actually enjoy instrumentals over those featuring vocals for some crazy reason). Kudos!!

Wow, thanks!!!
I had a blast putting it together even though it was very frustrating sometimes! I've remixed and remastered it four times since I posted this... :)

Your guitarist is clearly inspired. Those solos are the highlight to me.

Excellent productions all over.

This is soo cool! Unbelievable professional, especially if this is a web collab, is it?
Nice composition. Great bass work! If I had a band I would have wanted one like that.
To me it feels very CD-ready.

Some, yes..
Rob lives in the same city, but we worked over the web for the solos. I had the horn players in-studio though... Thanks man! :) CD is almost ready!
