If you have been listening to my music for some time, it will not come as a surprise that I also write for the organ, scores which I share with a few friends around the globe who like (and can use) music for this instrument. ... "Pastorale" is my 61st meditation for the organ which I've embellished with strings, oboe d'amore, flute, and F-horn. ... When you hear the recording, you may (as I did) find yourself somewhere in the middle of a Polevtsian Dance* as the piece descends in the final bars toward its inevitable conclusion. (see explanation below)* I hope you will enjoy listening to this little number. It runs just under 3 minutes and I thought it might work in a cinematic sequence of some sort. ... The song art is also called "Pastorale" and is by Anne Baring (www.annebaring.com). In doing some research for this art, I stumbled across her website. Quite a fascinating life of discovery. I encourage you to take a look).

And if you want to see the organ score, you can find it at my website here:

* Alexander Borodin (1833 - 1887) was a Russian Romantic composer, a doctor, and a chemist who also championed women's rights in the middle 19th century. He is most famous for his "In The Steppes of Central Asia" and his opera "Prince Igor" which contains the very famous "Polovtsian Dances" which you might at least partly recall from the 20th c. musical "Kismet" which featured the wonderful songs "Stranger In Paradise" and "And This Is My Beloved," both featuring Borodin's 19th century score.

this is so emotional and moving I can barely take it all in. Gorgeous Paul - cool backstory on Borodin. God - those last measures are exquisite!

A quiet moment in the fields. Time to marvel and reflect. Very fine, indeed, Paul. Lovely artwork, too. Thanks, Peter.

Nice sounding instrument you have. Is that a sample library?

In both sound and idiom I'm a little reminded of romantic French organ music. (I used to play one or two pieces by Alain & Widor.) The strings and winds are a nice addition.

very impressive. haunting to begin with then evolves into something positive and then back and forth....always keeping the listener guessing.
warm and friendly at 1.40 and then it lifts with such positive energy. and then it all comes down to land gracefully and with a gentle sweet sigh.
