Description
Recorded in May 2007 with Mike Watkins (kevmikwa) on drums, Alf Solti (Alfalpha) on keys and Anne Cozean and Jan Porter on backing vocals.
This is one of my favourite songs out of all the tunes I've posted, but I was never totally happy with the sound of the copy I posted back then. I decided to do a full re-mix, re-playing or re-singing bits here and there and getting some of the drum issues (sonic, not playing!) sorted out. Looked in all my storage devices and couldn't find the files :(
So .... I decided to remaster it instead to try to give it a little more groove and sparkle.
You've got to love Ozone 5!
I hope you enjoy the revision.

Lyrics
Blue Pool
© 2007 Neil Porter

Well I’m packing up the wagon
Time to do some camping by the sea
It's ninety ks to Paradise
Ninety ks from nowhere you and me

Heading up to Bermi
Pick a beach that isn’t far away
The water temp’s been falling
You couldn’t get this man in there, no way

Blue Pool
Warmer than the ocean
Blue Pool
Quite the place to be
Blue Pool
Poetry in motion
Blue Pool
Hangin’ in the sun sounds fine to me
Fine to me
Fine to me
Blue Pool

INSTRUMENTAL

Blue Pool
Warmer than the ocean
Blue Pool
Quite the place to be
Blue Pool
Poetry in motion
Blue Pool
Hangin’ in the sun sounds fine to me
Fine to me
Fine to me
Blue Pool

Fresh caught calamari
Fishing boats that loiter in the bay
Moto Guzzi mayhem
80 years and clearly here to stay

Gelato by the seaside
Get to taste the ones you want for free
Talk of Rome and Vespas
Just about as cool as you can be

Blue Pool Redux
It sounds fine to me .. fine to me.

Love that organ and piano tease in the first verse - it really puts the whole blue pool vibe in motion.

Great set of lyrics. Heading to paradise .. discovering paradise isn't what you expected .. and then it turns out to be more cool than anticipated.

It's always a difficult question: how much tweaking do you do on an earlier effort? But as the tweaking tools get better, it's hard to resist tinkering with the past. Assuming, of course, you can still find those files : )

I like the images in the lyrics. Everything sounds sounds bright in the mix, with being brittle. Good arrangement, and the contribution of all makes for a professional sound. Good one, Neil! (And commiserations on the lost files. I hate it when that happens!)

always worthy to revisit some of the old tunes... since we learn so much on mixing over the years. and this revision sounds fantastic.

A little more groove and sparkle...
Mission accomplished! This number really cooks, Neil. Such a solid backing band, the keyboard work being a real highlight (of course I'd listen for that!). Somehow — and trust me: I'm losing my hearing! — I could stand the vocal being a little more up front in the mix so that the lyrics were a little clearer. But that's probably just me. Terrific arrangement and mix of all the instrumentals. "Fine to me..."

Sounds fantastic
great separation and detail. Nice use of the field in my headphones - subtle placement differences. This is likely from the original - but it's cool how the drums are spread left and right with different elements on each side. Cool track.

You gotta love those keys. Bermi sounding more exotic than it ever seemed when I passed through :-) Never stayed there though and being by the ocean always makes things look and taste better. Some fine drumming by Mike and isn't it great to have female backing singers to smooth out those rough edges. I see Ozone 6 is out. Seems to offer technical refinements that are beyond my pay grade... Take care, Peter.

Terrific background music
right out of the shoot. Like how you sing right in key and the funky-ness is really nice. I thought that sounded like sisters, then I look up see Anne and the rest in description. WaY tO gO !
