Description
First rehearsal of Airport Seven without guitar. Just messing around - but Steve sounds great here on the drums. At least I think so. John's playing bass and then the vocal sample. I'm playing synth and stuff.

Dude
I love drums and I sure can hear you guys have lots of fun and that's what counts.

You guys should mess around more often, cheers.

jazz drum
actually the whole tune has that esoteric jazz style going on... even a hint of early ELP.

The sound quality has a real retro vibe that brings back memories. As does the spacey drum solo thing. Steve is cooking, as you say. A lost art. Regards, Peter.

The drummer's essential
Even tho he's often overlooked. He's pretty focused here, and I dig that he shifts between supporting and resistant roles during that Reggie Watts sounding phase from 3:55 on.
Good post!

Thanks to all who took the time to listen
and to those who took the extra time to comment - much appreciation. I'm grateful for your generosity and patience with these releases as I work to find new ways to express myself since the guitar is no longer available. This road is much longer than anticipated and may take another six months minimum to sort itself out.
Today is Thanksgiving Day here in the states. I'm thankful for the many years of enjoyment, inspiration, community and support MJ has given me and others.
Right then. Carry on.

Music
the way music should be I remember going to Don Fury and spending a couple of hours making 2 track live recordings of just musical improvisation with hints of structure but the journey was worth the ride, thanks for bringing that back :0) great performance by the Airport 7 no guitar needed btw the voices during the middle were a nice treat I was waiting for a down beat at the end to go with the repeating synth but what the drummer did was better!

Born in Philly and living in Brooklyn, NY. My home studio work predates digital and my gigging experience was mostly in the early eighties. Lately I play out from time to time with Airport Seven and try to keep up with what's going on around here. Th... [see more]

Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
