Description
This is the title track from my new album, The Sins of Science, to be released online by Vulpiano Records.

This song is all about a guy in the process of moving from a view of the world based on faith towards the realisation that reality may be somewhat different to what he believes.

As with any of the tracks from this project, it is ridiculously overproduced!!

Lyrics
You praise the Lord and you worship him
You thought that faith could heal all your sins tonight
But every man who lives this way must face the day
When faith and hope give way to reality

Bring your sacrifice of reason to rights
Cleanse your soul of blind devotion and fight
You’re not the same because

The sins of science kept you locked inside the fading light
The sins of science are yours tonight

Where’s your morals, when the outcome’s wrong?
Where’s your faith, when the feeling's too strong?
Have you noticed how it seems so strange
That prayer and chance have the same probability?

It’s time to ask yourself just what you believe
Can God deliver the promise and hope you need?
You’re not so sure because

The sins of science kept you locked inside the fading light
The sins of science are yours tonight

You think your soul can fly into the clouds
But the truth of life can drag you down
You’ll never take flight

Don’t you know the sins of science
You can’t ignore them
The sins of science

They are yours
The Sins of Science
Tonight

Good Effort!
Enjoyed your work. Take some suggestions?
Humanize is a silly idea. Warp it! Like a band is warped.
The middle of the stereo field feels crowded.
The "fluff", or cloud pad notion featured here, is mighty fluffy... maybe a dated sound?

Glad you like. I've played with the panning and it has improved the clarity somewhat. Cool suggestion! :-)

Not sure what you meant by warping it?

Warping...
Inherent in every band recording is the dreaded "tempo drift".
Even competent drummers have "pockets". When we say,"Steve Gadd has the ideal pocket", or "Terry Bozio's pocket is flexible in the extreme." The statements mean something very real about the way each drummer approaches rhythm.
My comment is to suggest that the meter here is too machine like, stiff... the drummer is not rushing here or "squeezing there".
The humanize feature in software is not a substitute for developing a groove... try it for yourself! Also try to warp the thing like a real deal guy might...

The Sins of Science
Lots going on here - almost wall of sound stage. I like the quality of the vocals and the thoughtful lyrics. Good luck with the project!

Science
The label "alternative rock" made me a little apprehensive before I hit the play button on this track. The actual sound however had none of the abbrasive guitars I was expecting. Instead I hear a driving drum beat, a sophisticated bed of synthesizers, singing guitar lines, and very well crafted polyphonous vocals. This song was in every sense a pleasant surprise!

"Overproduced"? - not really
Very 80s sound to me rather than alt rock, but genre's are all in the mind of the beholder/producer of course. I agree with Cees that the lead vocal could be a little louder in the mix. I have a small nit about the "of" harmony in "sins of science": one of the falsetto tracks seems off (left hand speaker) to me. I reckon that would be worth sorting before this is "released" because otherwise, the song sounds good. Daug's point about the centre field being a little crowded is worth considering.
Good post though, and you've obviously put a lot of effort into it.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Thanks
Everything I do sounds 80's - must be to do with the music I was brought up with (born in 1980). One day I'll make something modern, lol!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've played with a few things and it's certainly strengthened the sound. Nice one! Glad you liked it. :-)
