Description
A Christmas song based on a actual event .. although I may have stretched the truth slightly.

The picture is a bee, not a wasp, which was hanging around my window this summer, but it conveys the impression.

Lyrics
ZOMBIE WASPS

Christmas came with its innocence
Santa gifts wrapped with hugs and kisses
Wife and kids gathered around the hearth
Little did we know we were in for a shock
Frozen dead hidden in the branches of our tree
Reanimated by the warmth of the fireplace fire
Out flew a swarming horde of Christmas Eve devils
Zombie wasps are chasing me

Based on a true event
Just trying to tell a little Christmas story based on what happened to a co-worker when he went out to a tree farm and cut his own holiday tree : )

By the title I was expecting
Zombie white anglo saxon protestants. That would have been a whole other story. I love this one. Must have been one hell of a surprise.

Storytelling
That's a different zombie genre .. but a fitting subject for a scary story. Maybe even more scary!

Creepy
"Zom-bees" .. that's clever : )

I'm still swatting an occasional mosquito here indoors (usually in the middle of the night), even though they are gone for the season outdoors.

When wasps try to sleep in our chimney ...
... I build a bigger fire, and watch them fall in.   One by one by one.

Zombie Wasps
Kinda sounds like the ol' Trojan Horse tactic. We have a detente with the bees, but never trust a wasp! Cool Christmas song, maybe not one for the carolers, but cool!

Caroling
Yes, it would be pretty hard to imagine a groups of carolers standing outside of a residence singing this song for holiday fare. But the thought of it is bizarrely heartwarming : )

Deck the halls with bees
One Christmas to remember for sure. Enjoyed the tune, well executed and to the point and that sound effect at the end added a nice touch.

The buzz
The goal of the guitar work was to suggest attacking insects .. whereas the buzzing sounds at the end are actual various wasp recordings I downloaded from the Internet. I'm still wondering if I should have mixed in a few screams from the distraught family members as they are running for the safe room.

dang wasps
If I wrote about my early childhood encounters with wasps I am afraid it would be like this- cool work and I like the arrangement!

Close Encounters
I'm afraid to ask!

Although interpreting a wasp with a sax could be an interesting artistic challenge.

Funny though, just you mentioning childhood encounters with wasps triggered a memory for me. One day while a friend of mine and I were playing Mumbly-Peg, a game based on throwing and sticking jack knives into the dirt, I remember we suddenly realized there was a contingent of black wasps building a nest under a hedge a few feet from where we we playing. Boy, did we hightail it away from there! That memory remains vivid some fifty-years after the fact : )

childhood memory
A young lad, I was harassing a nest of yellow jackets who were building under the eave of our barn...with dirt clods. I figured that they could not see me. Boy, was I wrong. As I was running as fast as I could across the pasture one caught up to me and stung me on my left ear lobe. Afterwords, I was deathly afraid of them and whenever I would see one approach I would feel a vibration in my ear. It took many years to get over that one. It's odd... now that I think of it, that is the ear that I have hearing loss in. hmmm, no couldn't be. ???

Good story
Yes, I can see why that traumatic event would leave an enduring memory. Hearing loss in that ear? Hard to say. Maybe if you had a persistent buzzing in that ear : )

Zombie
I don't think I'll put this song between "chestnuts roasting" and "santa claus is coming to town" in the holidays playlist. Enjoyed, though.

Christmas Cookies
Ha-hah .. I didn't make your Christmas list. Sigh. Hopefully, though, on those rare days when your ears need a break from the bombardment all of those endlessly-played Holiday classics, when they become too familiar, too repetitive, too saccharine, you will recollect there are alternatives : )

Run for the hills! Or at least head for the basement : )

Right .. the primary aim here was storytelling .. which of course is entertainment.
