Lyrics
miles and miles and miles
and miles apart
nothing ever changed
in my heart
away in the distance,
you fade so slow
years from now,
this all be years ago

days and days and days
have gone by
seasons change,
kissed by the summer sky
the evening light
sinks so low
years from now,
it burned so bright years ago

here on my side of the spinning world
I hold so tight to every word
I came so close to the edge of it all
You were there to catch me
when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall

Moses split the sea,
and we parted ways
clinging to the shore,
I slip beneath the waves
surrender to the tide,
and feel it flow
years from,
just drifted years ago

here on my side of the spinning world
I hold so tight to every word
I know now that after all
You were there to catch me
when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall
catch me when I fall

I like the rich, bright sound of the guitar and the good contrast between the low and high notes that you use. The intimate vocal has a world-weary warmth to it. Much enjoyed!

I like the acoustic opening and your vocals are warm and engaging. The guitar playing is intricate and sounds great but I just get the feeling it is a bit detached from the vocal at some points in both rhythm and room sound? Possibly the guitar could just back off a touch in complexity and accompany the vocal without trying to compete with it? There is much to like about this and you play and sing very well. Enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

Yes, agree
Thanks for the thoughtful tips. It's rough, and kinda disjointed. It's something I am not good at. I have a hard time with levels, balance, mixing. Thanks for stopping by!

I'll catch you!
Actually, I'm so glad I had the time to catch this beautifully written and performed song--your guitar playing is so enticingly warm and oh those lyrics--how can they fail to touch a heart or two. I like your voice--you remind me of a rock singer whose name escapes me now but I know he's highly regarded. This was a gem--I do hope you are back with more very soon Mr. Oop! Kindest regards, Michael

The guitar sounds great ... big and strong .. love the drone of the E string in this dropped tuning. Wonderful expression in your vocals. Well done and well picked.

I feel guilty
Every time you comment on one of my songs I click on the link to your latest and arrive here to your post that I have already fav'd in the past but didn't comment on. So here's my take. Heartfelt, fine guitar and your vocals compliment well. Love the lyrics, nice clean mix and well played,, so nicely done... I would have fumbled around and messed up somewhere. It sounds like one take and that you were really into the song when you performed it. The dropped 6th string to a D tuning, I'm assuming, adds dimension. Sorry it took me this long to comment. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Once Upon A Time...
...on my iPod for almost two years now — one of the most authentic-sounding and devastating pieces I've ever heard and which I've enjoyed over and over again...And then I come across this "Years From Now" and it just blows me away. You have such a simple, elegant way of playing, singing, and forming a song. It just in every way captures heart-felt emotion. You are quite a master with your guitar, too. This is, again, a song I will listen to many many times. Thank you so much for sharing it. Just superb.
