Description
there is a preset for modeled jazz guitar on my boss gp-10 processor. i thought, well i play around with it to hear what it sounds like. this song pretty much worked itself out right of the bat. at first was just going to forget about it. however i thought i haven't really recorded something along this line. recorded all the tracks very quickly and the lyrics took around ten minutes.

i'm not sure if easy listening is the right genre... it's not exactly jazz or swing or rockabilly. is there a better classification for it?

Lyrics
The Vapor Lounge

was this gal dressed in red
blue velvet plays in her head
colgate invisible shield her defense

just another night at the vapor lounge
the doorman will wave you through
won’t you have another round

if you seek shelter from the storm
skeletons chatter behind closed doors
your secrets are safe and talk is cheap

just another night at the vapor lounge
the doorman will wave you through
won’t you have another round

do you know what you seek
here you find your basic needs
here is your place you’ll never leave

just another night at the vapor lounge
the doorman will wave you through
won’t you have another round
won’t you have another round

Really like your approach
Haven't heard this side of you but it really fits you well. Nice jazzy tune with that Holman influence. The guitar settings fit perfectly.

It's that new genre... Vicjazz. Different for you and different is good! Like the clean approach to the guitars and chords especially in the chorus and the change during the break is cool ... smooth vocals excellent track.
The illustration isa different too ... not as graphic ... I like it.

there's quite a bit of stuff that doesn't get finished or posted. i could do heavy metal as well but don't have the voice for it. :-)

the art is a part of a piece from back a ways. don't have the time to draw like i use to, plus to much nerve damage to the right arm & hand kinda has limited me.

I especially like the chord progression, the tone of the guitar and the images conjured up by the lyrics. Entertaining, Vic!

after coming up with the chords i kept thinking of those speakeasy clubs hidden away back in the '30's. just a small combo type of thing

Hey Vic. Great tune, love the sound of the bass. I can see how it was a great jumping off point to this cut. Your vocals have a real warm tone to them which is really pleasing and pitch perfect for the genre. The lead tres jazzy. Thanks for the DL.

Sorry I am late, Vic. Computer problems... Great to hear you jazzing out. Liking the vocal work. Interesting progressions, too. A package that is a bit off the straight and narrow - and all the better for it. Thanks, Peter.

Going with the flow
Don't you just love it when a song practically writes itself? It doesn't happen very often .. but just often enough to tease us into thinking there is music out there using us for birth. Especially after all of the miscarriages, abortions, still-births and labored efforts we go though to make music : )
