Funky Monkey
Parlament Funkadelic would have been impressed. A totally surreal escapade in funkdom. It has shades of Zappa, too in a weird way. The Metallica-esque/acoustic interlude at 2:30 is a total hoot and acts a killer counterpoint.

oh and - Firsties!

Thanks, Mr Rat
Sam (Dixon) liked that bit best too. David instigated this with a bit of funk drumming that I added bass and guitar, then silly vocals to. It marks a move from composing from a musical perspective to a rhythmic one which has proven very fruitful for us. Thank you muchly for the Clinton/Zappa references - my favourites. David will like the Metallica comparison.

Funkapuss
Sir Nose is on loan, but as he sings nothing I hope I don't owe royalties. As for the Funkapuss, he's a bad monkapuss, scientifically speaking. Thanks for listening, Andrew.

Teaching a monkey chess

was easy. Getting him to play bass was much harder. Glad you enjoyed it, KC.

David's a good drummist
To quote my friend Mark Langford. I got chance to use my new to me Yamaha fretless, which allows one to slap and slur. (Fun!) Ta for listening, J.

Madcap Monkey Moment
Nf3.

This funky song is infused with maniac mirth from the mad-drum get-go.

Interesting middlegame - how it mellows the mood. But the relief is only momentary before the funky monkey comes back in for the rousing endgame.

Check, mate.

I rooked your castle
... and I don't know any more chess puns. We had a lot of fun, swapping the files for this, pretending we were Funkadelic and/or Monty Python. Glad you liked it, Warren.

Funky porn
(sorry, I meant pawn)

Just thought I'd check mate if you dialled in the Hendrix patch?

Splendid playing, those drums really drive it and it's always nice to get a bit of slap now and again.

Quirky and quite wonderful.

Cheers

Dick

Hendrix
i approximated Mr H's tone in GB. The monkey's borrowed from Honest Ron's Monkey Emporium. To be truthful, he seems a bit shifty. I'm pleased you liked it, Dick. It was a lot of fun to record.

The black fianchetto
The James Gang rides again. Love that bass. Fine drumming , as well. Rhythmic perspective --- looking forward to hearing more of that.

Not too soon
I realised the other day that i was revisiting this tune before I threw out all the stuff i'd recorded over the drum track and subbed something more interesting. But I'm sure we'll get round to doing another one. Thanks for listening, Les.

Funky Monkey
So if 1000 monkeys are let loose in a recording studio for 1000 hours this is what they come up with? :-) Unreal banana peel. Great listen. Thanks, Peter.

And a very messy carpet.
It didn't take these two monkeys 1000 hours. Close, though. Thanks for the comments, Peter.
