Bitches' Lil Sister Meets Daug

Description
This guy in Alberta Canada had one of those Pacifica's from the 90s that I love.
He was keeping it under his bed. I bought it and he packed it in cardboard and shipped it Canadian style.
I got it a week later... took it out of the box and recorded this track.
My other bitches are very jealous...
You knew I was gonna post this right?

Wild Ride
That's some tone on the guitar - nothing better than a new toy to experiment with! Fine playing, Daug.

Hello Philip
Nothing like knocking off the rust. Too much piano in the house, nice to stretch out on something. Thanks for stopping by and leaving an encouraging comment.

Hello Tim
Tim that piece was a mover, a week in a cardboard box from Alberta to central Florida during the winter chills... the thing came out of the box in tune, in 10/10 condition, with few pick guard scratches; meant to be mine for 23 years.

Hello Peter
The simple truth of it is... I have GAS, guitar acquisition syndrome (GAS) keeps raising the size of my herd. Some of these bitches are just gonna have to leave! So I can make room for the new ones.

Mad love for Yammies
I'm pleased (nay, overjoyed) to have acquired a Yamaha fretless bass and an EG112 recently and they are bloody amazing. It seems impossible to knock the six - string out of tune, and the bass is now my favourite instrument. You are clearly in love with your Pacifica, and I'm not at all surprised.

Hello G
Indeed, those guys at Yami made some amazing instruments in the 90s. The 1421 is, for me anyway the finest available mass produced electric guitar ever made... the company lost a fortune on the thing, because it had such low profit margins.
Speaking of tuning, the twin truss rods in that 921 held that guitar in tune for a week as it travelled from Alberta to central florida during the coldest part of the year. The things are impervious to climate change.

Another great ride in the doghouse. Guitar sounds great... quite like the drums you've put together. A question I have for you and I noticed it in the last mix, we are all told to put the bas and kick in the centre
and you have it panned left and actually wi the blues part when you rip that cool solo it's all left end heavy ... intentional?
Well you followed this tune through and did a great job !

Hello Stan
Thanks for the shout out. I really appreciate the big ears stopping by and offering encouragement. Helps me keep going here at MJ. You should just send me an email in the future lol.
Let me try to help ya without getting too much into the arcane reasons for what your asking about...The template I use for everything is drums hard left and right. If you were to see this band live the drummer on the right is on a riser and hits hard, he's playing DWs. The other drummer is on the floor and hits less hard, he's playing Luds.
There are reflections in the reverb mix, so an envelope is established. Just like a live recording in a small hall. This sounds appropriate to my ears. I spent a lot of time hearing things this way.
The bass is down the middle. Guitar is spread out left and right inside the drums and especially noticeable inside the reflections. (The wall of sound idea stripped down to the smallest group.) One side of the drums is louder, that is the DWs hit hard. DWs don't sound good hit softly, to my ears anyway. Ringo's drums don't sound like I think they should hit hard...
I hope that helps ya out. If you need more help... Listen to a Roger "The immortal" Nichols recording... like your favorite Steely Dan record. Ask yourself, "Self, what is it about these drums that make the track sizzle, like a live recording, only better?" :)

Hello there friend...
Thanks for the shoutout! Who should we take on next? Picking on Jimmie Page too easy? Naw, there is always someone who plays better than you do my friend. They got 13 year old French girls playing "Errrruption" note for note on the youtube.
Please, be my guest, use the open collaboration version already posted and it's your turn. Have fun! :)

Wild
Very .. expressionistic.

I'm just the opposite of you (and apparently most other guitarists here) .. I'm a one man/one guitar kind of guy. When I get a new one, which is not often, I dump the old one. For whatever reason(s) .. it's always been like that for me .. going on 50 years now.

Anyway .. I love it here how you just let the music flow out of this Pacifica. Wild!

Howdy Warren
I have too many guitars Warren. They are tools. A workman can never have enough tools.
You should let yourself go and have a fling with a new model... see how the rest of us find inspiration in the casual relationships we can strike up in our random encounters ;)
Some guitars are blessed and sound way better than others... and still others are gifted and contain things no other instrument can give, even the pawn shop prizes...
