Description
Written after my dad's death in 2004 this song is essentially two or three stories.
We each wrote a verse and chorus then we wrote the second verse.
(For Evan, Rhyne & VH Sr.)
Thanks to all for the comments. We added some guitar and strings to the song.

Lyrics
Verse 1
He's such a good kid
but he doesn't really know how to live his life
I wish the best for him
Yet I know, that I know, that it won't suffice
Chorus
I know I wasn't always there
And now it's all up in the err
Verse 2
It is what it is
Yeah it is something that's not so nice
When you were a kid, I tried yeah I did
Only saw you twice
Verse 3
Days turn to weeks, turn to months
Don't you know that I've tried so hard
My mind is a mess I confess
But I still know where you are
Chorus
I know I wasn't always there
What made you think I didn't care
(Verse 1 & 3 together)
Chorus
I know I wasn't always there
Will someone hear a father's prayer
He's such a good kid
but he doesn't really know how to live his life
I wish the best for him
Yet I know, that I know, that it won't suffice
Chorus
I know I wasn't always there
And now it's all up in the err

Good job with the lyrics. Softer than usual, and not
as wacky as i expected. This is a mature side of your
song making ability could explore more.
It's slow without being sappy. It tells the story well
without getting all weepy and crap.
I could offer some critique on the production, if you
want.
