So Much Love

Description
In honor of Ringo Starr being inducted as a solo artist in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, my most recent Ringo pastiche. I'm doing everything on this version -- the guitar parts are played on Sheila, my Epiphone Casino, the rest is MIDI. I'm also all three vocals.

Lyrics
I have so much love for you
That I don’t know what I am gonna do
‘Cause even though I know you’re sad and blue
I have so much love for you

The other day you called me up
Because you know I care
He’s been on your mind again
The hurt’s too much to bear
I really wish I knew what I could say
But I’m afraid that it takes time
For pain to go away

I have so much love for you
And I don’t know what I am gonna do
‘Cause even though I know you’re sad and blue
I have so much love for you

You know he never treated you
The way that a man should
I was never really sure
If he was really any good
I wish that you could see things as they are
And if it’s love you’re looking for
You needn’t look too far

I have so much love for you
That I don’t know what I am gonna do
‘Cause since he’s gone you’ve been so sad and blue
But I have so much love for you

I really wish I knew what I could say
But I’m afraid it takes time
For pain to go away

I have so much love for you
And I don’t know what I am gonna do
‘Cause even though you’ve been so sad and blue
I have so much love for you

You say you never thought that he
Would leave you on your own
And now you’re so afraid
You’ll always be alone
I wish that I could show you that you’re wrong
And let you see that it is me
Who loved you all along

I have so much love for you
That I don’t know what I am gonna do
‘Cause even though I know you’re sad and blue
I have so much love for you
Yeah, I have so much love for you

So Much Love
Continuing the tradition of getting the sound right, John. Love the jangly guitar. Has a sort of "Act Naturally" feel to it. Much enjoyed.

Thanks!
The goal was to throw "Act Naturally" and "What Goes On" in a blender and see what poured out.

So Much Love
Ringo and Carl Perkins met in a bar... :-) Great sound, John. The backing vocals are just spot on. Really authentic feel. Much enjoyed. Thanks, Peter.

Brilliant
A very fun pastiche.

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to when that guitar chord halfway is both minor and major. It clashes and I can't figure out why.

Hmm...
During the guitar solo? I can't off the top of my head remember the chord progression (I recorded this about six months ago), and since I can't solo for shit I'm sure I've screwed something up there. ("He's strictly rhythm, he don't want to make it cry or sing...")

The lost Ringo track...
'nuf said. Except that this is such a fun tribute, faithful to not only Ringo but the Beatles' sound. Thanks...

Mission Accomplished!
Thanks so much! The goal is always to record tracks that sound like "lost" songs. So glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks John
The Applesauce Project comes through with a blast from 1965.
Maybe you should have gone old school and double tracked the lead vocal?
Really enjoyed the program.

Thought about double-tracking...
...but because Ringo was so bad at it (listen to "Matchbox" as an example), George Martin usually didn't use it on his tracks -- certainly not on either "Act Naturally" or "What Goes On", which this tune was meant to sound like. :D

Regardless, so glad you enjoyed it! I've got more coming very soon...

Ringo Bingo
Of course, he didn't double track, so, yer authentic 100%. I like that. Your fun with the Beatles is a great lift. Thanks for carrying on as you do...
