Description
This land bears secrets that no one dreams. Out here we live two different lives. Under the warm sun of day, we go about our business, tend to our families and friends. But during the long winter nights, under the lash of the north wind, the dark and the cold sets men's minds to thinking. And when that darkness spreads itself over the land, many hidden things are revealed, and men's thoughts travel along devious paths. --- attribution unknown

North wind lashes
These are barely felt here in Freeport, though you may need a sweater until the sun has had a chance to get going. This is rather funky in its frozen wastedness. Love the change at 4.05. (You'll know why when I upload my latest.) You give me the chills, Mr K. (That's enough bad cold puns. Ed.)

Wastedness
Thanks, Graham. These places are a sometime-fascination of mine born of unfamiliarity and naiveté.

Higher plane
Indeed. I've always enojoyed your space/sci-fi/fantasy themed posts, and this could be my favorite of them all. Even for your high standard, this one is stunning. Lead guitar from 5:32 is gorgeous. This is prog rock at its best. Bravo.

Themes
I guess I never noticed that I have any space/sci-fi/fantasy themes, Well, without lyrics, I guess we can make whatever interpretation seems suitable. Anyway, I'm glad you like this one. Thanks much for coming by.

The unusual suspects
Hah .. this evokes those long, frigid winter nights of my youth spent hiding under a quilt in Minnesota : )

I love how you let music take you to strange and unusual places.

Now this
I've been missing. When it broke down to the windy section--chills indeed. very smooth transition. Picked back up and sliced me with that sustaining crash cymbal. Masterful as ever.

devious
Man the separation in this with that synth floating along some parts made me turn my head to see if someone was there, the ice and snow if swirling around while imaginations run wild very cool!

Hey, Tim
You have a bit of the feeling I get when I conjure up deserted icescapes in my head. I always thought there was a creepiness factor there. I don't know why that is, but I always let it do its work on me. I appreciate the thoughtful comment.

Wonderful.
Late to the party. I often am these days. Your sig synths are terrific. Well, it all is really. Complex and heavy. Fabulous mix. Must have taken you an age to build and tweak. Well worth the time spent I'd say.

Hi, Dave
Yes, I worked pretty hard on this one. Took forever to whip it into postable shape. Just before doing the final mixdown, I had an idea for extending one part, which would have obliterated several days of tedious work. I forced myself to resist. Good enough, I reckon. I declare this one finished, at least up to the limit of my (admittedly mediocre) ability to make a proper mix. Anyway, thanks for coming by.

Really interesting enjoyable work, man. One of your more intricate pieces. Great guitar work accompanies the listener on this dark and cold journey - and quite a journey it is - I found myself always waiting and wanting to hear what comes next, around each new musical corner. Really enjoyed this, Les - sorry I'm so late to the party - have not been around much the last few weeks. Nice work!

Hi, Sig
Good to hear that you found it dark and cold. Except for a couple of parts, that was more or less the intention. I guess putting in a white-out blizzard wind track helps that along hahaha, Well, I like that theme. I'm weirdly fascinated by the arctic regions. I will probably do some more cold pieces in the future. Thanks very much for your comments. I always value your opinions.

Back to hoover up some great prog
Love the synthy intro with the wind as a contrast to the guitar entry. The syncopated bass is killer against the pads. I couldn't tell if you were switching up time signatures around 3:30 but it sounds great keeping things off balance and at the edge of unpredictable. The song just keeps delivering. Great extro. Nice nice nice!

I've clearly been away too long. This is great!
