Description
This is a recording from a Collapsible Shoulder show last December. I'm playing synth and stuff on this.
Chris Cochrane - guitar
Kato Hideki - bass
Brian Chase - drums
Bud - synth and electronics
The other guys in this band are worth searching out for their other music. I'm happy to be playing with them.

More-structured jam...
...than other recent posts, I think. I would never profess a real understanding of this kind of music, but it is easy to note the absolute energy that spins out of this track. Kind of mesmerizing, actually. You keep stretching the boundaries— a good thing, indeed. (That noise around 3:06 and following is, well, CAH-RAY-ZZZ. (No wonder you like my piano music. It must calm you down after a night like this. Ha. Ha.)

A song in this case
Yes we actually were following a predetermined structure that allowed for a little subterfuge. I love all music Paul - yours especially.

nice clarity and depth to the recording. the second listen revealed a few extra textures that I did not take in on the first pass

thanks for the download

Thannks for checking this out
We're recording an EP for Early October release. These guys are great to play with - and breaking my shoulder may not have been the worst musical move of the last many years.

swinging boots
like the sick break in there, this rides along that great bass line, all I can say is thanks for the download that synth winding in and out , I kept waiting for the breakdown at the end to blast back in but great as is!

Chris - the guitarist has deep groove
and a weird sense of time. He basically sets the feel and Kato and Brian are good at their job. Brian plays with The Yeah Yeah Yeahs (who might be finished as a band - and Kato has a varied past from jazz to noise. I'm the fly in the ointment.

A "RIse of the Machines" anthem, Bud. Industrial strength. Interesting and unique. Hard hats mandatory :-) Thanks. How is your shoulder? Back playing any guitar yet? Regards, Peter.

Than;s for asking Peter -
my shoulder is worse - not better. We discovered a serious neck injury that came along for the ride - so no - no guitar for a while more. Thanks god for a band that appreciates something different from me. It's really fun and has opened new doors to be forced to change my game.

we're having fun and went in the studio recently for an EP release soon. This was a small venue gig last year.

Well. if I was at a warehouse party and you guys came on I would watch and dig the music…and might even dance or nod my head sagely and stroke my soul patch. I can dig it for sure. Enjoyed. Cheers

As I listened
the first thing that came to mind was that you should really consider collection a group of these live recordings and create at least an EP. Then I saw your reply to another comment and there it was. It's already planned. Be a shame not to.
That last quarter of the song got me hyped (more so than the preceding secions).

Thanks Sammy
It means a lot that you would consider us record ready. The EP material was professionally recorded in a great studio that allowed us to play without headphones - but with great separation for the mix. We went in after a rune of gigs that helped us get ready. I hear you about the last quarter. Unplanned and a welcome surprise ending for us.

Raw
Loads of raw energy in this Kevin, sounds like it would go over well in a stinking, beer stained little club, with sweat dripping from the ceiling!

See it live
Urban and urbane. Gritty as a city street, yet driven like a high-powered, finely-tuned machine. Your synths nuzzle nicely with Chris's idiosyncratic guitar. I'm looking forward to catching a live show one of these New York nights.

I finally get to hear what you've been up to...
I keep meaning to, but this is the first time for me hearing Collapsible Shoulder... Very neat...

Reminds me of some of the more metallic and industrial aspects of King Crimson, without quite the degree of intense riffing that Fripp sometimes brought to that format...

For all its clang, it's also got some swing to it...I like how the band plays against the drummer... It's got some bashing, but it's also an anchored sort of piece...
