Description
Haven't posted a song for a while. Been to Europe and doing some other stuff.

This instrumental has been kicking round for a week or two so I thought I would record it.

Struggled with a name but ended up (as always :-)) heading back to the sea.

PRS Angelus - AKG small condenser and PRS proprietary pickup.

See what you think.

Regards,

Peter,

Before the wind
Nicely constructed, expertly played and clearly recorded. Both you and the PRS are in good form. I like it!

Alternative route...
Thanks, Philip. The PRS pickup ran via my new Fishman Platinum Pro EQ Analog Preamp before heading to the Presonus audio interface. The tone shaping and on-board compression work very well. It is a good bit of gear. Glad you liked how this turned out. Talk soon, Peter.

Definitely ready for some lyrics
You're leaving some nice space for my ears to open up and your playing is excellent. The recording is really sweet as well.

Pops up
Thanks, Kevin. Just an exercise in keeping the fingers in, really. It requires a bit of precision to get right. As for lyrics, I'll have a think and see what pops up. I appreciate your kind words. Take care. Regards, Peter.

Privileged
Thanks, Papa. Glad you liked it. The Paul Read Smith Angelus acoustic is a wonderful, resonant guitar. I am privileged to own one. It wills you to pick it up and play it. I appreciate the D/L. Take care, Peter.

Guitar sailing...
Sweet playing - pleasant and calm melodic seas of sound. Recording is clean and clear. Good - very good one, Peter.

Lends itself
Thanks, Jack. The PRS Angelus really lends itself to playing melodic, fingerstyle instrumentals. I appreciate your kind words. Regards, Peter.

Before The Wind
Hey Peter - is that before the "devil wind" lol? Sorry - I felt compelled to say that - anyway, nice little piece, and a really nice and rich tone on the acoustic. You do a lot of traveling - what about the States - any plans to come here? Enjoyed your work my friend!

Do you know the way to San Jose? :-)
Hi Sig. Thanks for dropping by. Yes, I do seem to have too much wind recently :-) It would be great to catch up if we get over to the West Coast in the next year or so. There's a fair chance chance we might! I appreciate your support of my music. And I do have several vocal songs to record that could possibly be ripe for a collab. Just got to get my act into gear... Talk soon, Peter.

Thanks, Franc. I enjoy developing these mini instrumentals and trying to get them to sound okay. The guitar makes me do it :-) Wonderful instrument. Take care. Regards, Peter.

No strings attached :-)
Thanks, Vic. I have medium-light, Ernie Ball, Aluminium Bronze strings on the PRS at the moment and they have quite a distinctive tone. I quite like it most of the time but I have just sent off for some John Pearce Phosphor Bronze sets to see how they go. They seem to get very positive reviews rounds the traps. The search for the perfect guitar/string combination continues :-) I appreciate you dropping by, as always. Regards, Peter.

Another vote
for the warm tone. A beautifully recorded, gentle morning song. I love that ending, too: a little jump up to an unexpected chord, then out. Very fine.

Husky?
Thanks, S2. Glad you liked how this turned out. The Aluminium Bronze strings do have a warm, "husky" tone. I liked the ending, too. Take care, Peter.

Wine by accident...
Thanks, KC. We flew into London and then drove with some friends of ours over to Burgundy and stayed for a week in a little village called Pommard. Then we drove through the French alps to Italy and spend another week in a little village called Refrancore, near Asti, in Piemonte. Wine regions just happened to figure prominently in the trip by pure co-incidence... :-) Then back through Switzerland to London and home. Great time but unexpectedly hot! Glad you liked this one. Take care, Peter.

the recording
itself hit me before the song. love the "sound" as a whole. the 3/4 ballad feel simply made this tune, you can't help but sort of rock from side to side (well, I couldn't) just to flow with the music. extremely nice.

The essence
Thanks, Sam. I have spent a lot of time trying to capture the essence of the PRS, as I hear it, and I have come at it from quite a few different recording angles. This method works pretty well, but... I want more :-) Glad this caused you to rock from side-to-side. It does have that rolling, up a wave then down the other side feel. Take care, Peter.

Such a pleasure...
...to hear this peaceful little guitar number. Going back to the sea is always a good thing in my way of thinking. Very clear and precise recording, unfettered by any need for further instrumentation. Perfect as is, I think.

Begs for a story
Wonderful playing. We could leave it at that but it begs for a story, for words about world-adventure or love-passion.

Follow suit?
Thanks, Richard. I have turned several of these noodling instrumentals into vocal works, eventually. This may well follow suit. Glad you enjoyed it. Kind regards, Peter.
