Description
I first heard this song at a matinee showing of the Muppet Movie with my three young daughters in the early 1980s. Kermit's version will ever be my favorite. Willie Nelson comes in second. Written by Paul Williams, this song catches the heart and mood of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This offering of mine is another song of the many I used to regularly sing in my Jamming With Jack gig at the Californian convalescent home. I did that monthly for four years. This recording is another (see the previous uploads) from 2008.

I like singing this song and hope you like my stab at it...

Lyrics
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide

So we've been told
And some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Some day we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far

What's so amazing
That keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me

All of us under its spell, we know that it's probably magic

Have you been half asleep?
And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound
That called the young sailors?
The voice might be one in the same

I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm supposed to be
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

La da da di da da dum da duh da da dum di da ohhh

Comfort range
Hi Vic. When I started learning each of these songs, knowing I would be singing straight for about an hour, I found keys that were mostly in my vocal strike zone. In retrospect, I should have done this more on my studio recorded songs that I have done here. so, I've learned a simple lesson you'd think I would have known already. Thanks again for listening. Cheers...

Frog rocking
Instead of hiding under a rock, this frog is rocking the shoreline. I don't think I've ever heard this song. Missed it along the way, even though my 7 kids watched Sesame Street.

Paul Williams is a fine songwriter. Another fine rendition. "Jamming With Jack", when's the tour down under? Take care, Peter.

Paul Williams...
Really, what a songwriter - many hit tunes. The "J with J" old folk loved this one. Pulls on the heartstrings and gives one a smile. Not bad. Coming Aussie Land next year on my "Jamming Down Under" tour.... ;)
Thanks for stopping in, Peter.

Kermit Is...
... green with envy, Jack. A very nice rendition, indeed. And it's doubly sweet because you shared it the way you did. ;)
