Description
Another guitar piece... I have lots of vocal songs to record but am having a bit of trouble getting motivated with them after a prolonged cold.

Anyway, I was recently down at the small coastal town of Mallacoota in eastern Victoria (again), visiting friends and catching some fish and, as always, a guitar came along for the ride. This instrumental had it genesis there but it has taken me a while to get it bedded down.

PRS Angelus acoustic recorded "live" (yes, you can hear some breathing again, I can't help it :-)) using a Shure Beta 58a for a change along with the proprietary PRS pickup. Worked well, I think.

The photo was taken at Mallacoota one evening with my iPhone (my daughter has my good camera in Italy at the moment). Anyway, the light level was low and the photo turned out a bit like a water-colour, so I went with it.

See what you think.

Regards,

Peter.

Just a touch of S&G's "59th Street Bridge Song" for mine - nice bounce to it! Crisp guitar tone - the recoding setup is working well. I like it! (And I must talk to you about how you got the art work to appear - it won't work for me!)

Preview?
Thanks, Philip. It does have that same type of bounce. And, yes, I am happy with how this is sounding. It is easy to setup, too. In relation to the artwork, who knows. I took the photo and then cropped and re-sized it down a bit in Preview on my Mac. Perhaps try and run your artwork through there as a jpg and see if it works. My guess is that all the missing avatars are gif files... Anyway, talk soon.

Mallacoota
One of the things I like best about this online community is hearing "live" postings that aren't overproduced to pristine clarity .. because it makes it seem like distances have disappeared and it's almost like I'm sitting in the same room while you are playing. This is fresh and alive! That said, however, I can't help imagine you sitting out on a ledge playing your guitar as the moon rises over Mallacoota. So I'm getting the best of both worlds while listen to your latest posting.

One of life's joys
Thanks, Warren. My friends have a wonderful view over the Mallacoota inlet with the ocean in the background, and it is inspiring. Sitting on their verandah and noodling away (with a glass of good red wine to hand) is one of life's joys. Glad you liked what eventuated. Take care, Peter.

Lucky
Thanks AO. Glad you liked it. My PRS Angelus Standard, made in Marylands, really is a high quality acoustic guitar. Beautiful to look at, sounds great and forces me to be a better player. I was lucky to pick one up second-hand here is Australia. There are very few of them around in Aus. Take care, Peter.

Interesting progression ... the opening grabbed me and followed through to the end. The recording is superb ... clean and rich with the right touch of verb. You just keep getting better.

Not waving, drowning... :-)
Thanks, Stan. I've said this a few times before but the PRS makes me strive to be a better player. I am lucky to have such a wonderful guitar and I am just paddling away under water trying to live up to its potential. Take care, Peter.

Spot on
Your clarity of tone and flourishes remind me of the early acoustic work of Bruce Cockburn. This is a delightful piece Peter. I started thinking Spring? - then, oh, ya! There's happy optimism throughout which is infectious! Very well played!!

Lurking
Thanks, Doug. More than happy with the Bruce Cockburn nod. The piece is meant to be positive and life affirming, whilst always remembering that the blues might be lurking behind a tree :-) Take care, Peter.

"Along for the ride..."
I sometimes wish I could carry my piano around with me as you do your guitar! ... This is such a comfortable little stroll with just enough "form" to keep it all making sense from beginning to end, all played with your usual style and careful attention to details. Way too short, though. It is such a pleasure to hear you play this wonderful instrument so effortlessly and beautifully.

Nice work.
I'm always a sucker for quality fingerpicking. It's so refreshing in these days of overproduced muck to hear a skilled musician just sit down and play.
Good job keeping the rhythmic pulse strong under those more complex bits.
