Description
"I am the originator, innovator, and the architect of Rock-n-Roll," said Lil' Richard.
Richard created 13 gold singles in one year. Can't argue with that...
He was kicked out of his father's house at 15 years of age for inappropriate behavior. He was shortly doing an act on the Chitlin' Circuit in drag. Richard's bizarre personality was often fueled by drugs, he put more that a million dollars up his nose. Yet, in a singularity in pop music, at the height of his national popularity, Richard walked away from the entertainment industry and became a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Lil' Richard is still alive here is the tribute, and parody he deserves. See the previous post "Molly on the Beach". The lyrics of his songs are generally bawdy and silly, the orchestration of his tunes never knock me out... but his rhythms- bring a smile to my eyes.
Richard was cheated out of millions in royalties, eventually, he was the most notorious litigant in Rock-n-Roll. He also made feature films before the exploitation genre was available.
What Richard did, that no one had before, was bring black and white youth together, the first mixed race youth crowds in American history got together at Lil' Richard events. The Beatles and Rolling Stones opened for Richard in England and no one ever followed him on stage anywhere, Richard brought the house down.

Riffs that fuelled a thousand songs. Horns sound solid. The hesitant start gives way to classic rock'n'roll. Impressive homage. Thanks.

Rock'n'roll!
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in your studio when you made this! Great rhythm section, cool keys and punchy brass. Ace production too.
Very enjoyable.

Hello J
A fly on the wall in the daug house? You would not be entertained. Kinda like making sausage...
You would not believe how many times I had to play the opening piano riff to get something that worked in this century. The way I phrase and the way Richard heard things are very different... Thank you for the listen and the comment is appreciated.

Not holding back
Your band's in full swing here. Very nice work on the horns and of course the signature key riffs. The life that is injected into this kind of music (and that emanates from it) is spirited and infectious. A fitting tribute, quotation, homage to one of the greats of the industry.

Yes Fergie I have been here since the place opened. In fall 2009, I erased the 60+ tunes I had posted since day one. The community here had changed, becoming hateful and repressive, and I needed to respond appropriately. What happened?... [see more]
