Description
This song was inspired by Neil Porter's postings on the Internet about hiking ("bushwalking") in Australia. He joins in on bass.

Of course this isn't really a "jungle" genre song. I don't even know what that is. But I figured the jungle isn't that far from the bush .. so that was close enough : )

Lyrics
Bushwalking

it's a beautiful day
let's go for a walk
along the ocean
over the rocks
you need a firm stick
and a good pair of boots
look out for low branches
don't trip on the roots
I'm talking - about bushwalking

Morning fog
the view may hide
still the world's in front of you
take it in stride
step over the puddles
go around the lakes
keep an eye out for the eagle
look out for the snakes
I'm talking - about bushwalking

Can you think of a better ploy to enjoy nice weather?
Can you think of a better way to share a day together?
What are you hesitating for? – park the car ditch the bike
If life the future is what you're waiting for - then take a hike!

When I go out rambling
strange thoughts hike through my head
like the world goes on with or without you
whether you’re alive or dead
shutdown the computer
log off the Internet
you can’t make the journey
if you don’t take the first step
I'm talking - about bushwalking

Escape the rat race
for a more leisurely pace
leave the congested city
for a more open place
fresh air promotes fresh thoughts
put on your walking shoes
feast on the vista
heighten your consciousness
I'm talking - about bushwalking

Bushwalking
Entertaining in all respects, Warren. Fun lyrics, amusing sound effects, engaging vocal style, and bright backing. Neil's bass is always good! Much enjoyed.

Transporting oneself
Since there are no travel plans on the horizon to make it to Australia .. I have to live vicariously through Neil's Website .. and through song : )

Implied thoughts
With the recent terrorist incidents in Paris and other places in mind, I was working on some overtly political verses in an attempt to inculcate the thought of living for the day. I ended up rejecting those words as being too heavy-handed for this song .. but perhaps the implication is there.

Twenty out of Ten
for originality in the subject matter on this Warren. Thoroughly enjoyed it and tittered quite a lot at the lyrics ha ha, Love the light hearted approach in the vocals and instrumentals......gave a great lift to the day, cheers M

Walking songs
Ha-ha .. the origin source of inspiration lies in Neil's presentation of his group's nature walks. The rest was just execution - and walking songs are something of a specialty for me : )

I appreciate the 20!

Bushwalking
An anthem for bushwalkers! From Brooklyn :-) Cool collab. More fun than slogging uphill on a muddy track in the rain, that's for sure. Thanks, guys.

The universal hiker
Even though the subject was specific, that is, bushwalking in Australia, I was going for a universal feeling of nature hiking anywhere in the world. So if it sounds like an anthem to you .. I feel I have achieved the semblance of commonality : )

Walkin'
I love the approach you take on your songs and this is a great example. Saying it's original is true but doesn't capture what you've really been able to do. Very creative, enjoyable and fun, pushing boundaries everywhere.

Thanks Warren!

Moment to live for
Thanks for your uplifting response. I wish I could say every song I work on turns out like this one .. but that's not the case. For every good one there are, what?, ten mediocre productions and several clunkers. This one flowed out nicely .. growing organically .. until I finally called it quits because I was verging on over-production. As a singer-songwriter .. I live for these moments : )

Taking a hike
I felt the same way, Vic, that Neil's bass adds a welcome weightiness to the production .. not unlike slipping on a sturdy pair of hiking boots when heading out for an extended walk.

Bushwalkin
I love anything with the words "rat race" in it!
Has a decidedly Robin Hitchcock jaunty smirkiness to it. Fun and comedic tour into the bush! I like the reprise about 3:15 - totally changes the vibe. Nice!

Jaunty
Ha-ha .. I was going for jaunty quirkiness .. but jaunty smirkiness is close enough : )

Thanks for taking time out from the rat race to comment on my song.
