Description
Today, on the 57th anniversary of The Day The Music Died, I thought I'd share a piece I've been working on that's supposed to be an attempt at me writing a lost Beatle song that was their attempt at writing a Buddy Holly song, if you follow me, with the conceit that this is one of those "Live on the BBC" tracks.

Eventually I'll get markeaux to do the lead vocals on this, but for now, this is me on everything, and features the debut of Martha, my Hofner violin bass.

Lyrics
I’ve loved you from the moment we met
And ever since then I have had no regret
That is why I know
This love is true

From morning dew to the setting sun
Every minute with you is filled with fun
And that is why I know
This love is true

Bridge
It’s right in every way
I treasure every day
That’s why I’ve gotta say

Please don’t ever leave my side
Take my hand and be my bride
That way I will know
This love is true

[instrumental break]

It’s right in every way
I treasure every day
That’s why I’ve gotta say

Please don’t ever leave my side
Take my hand and be my bride
That way I will know
This love is true

That way I will know
This love is true

Yes, that way I will know
This love is true

Interesting work here, John. It has a touch of Peggy Sue to it. The recording is a bit thin, much like they used to be for those "live" shows. The guitar solo is sort of George meets Buddy - the notes what Holly might play, but in a more staccato Harrison style. This is fun!

Thanks, man!
That's exactly what I was going for -- I specifically degraded the sound quality and mixed it in mono to sound like one of those crappy "Live At The BBC" recordings. :)

Triple dip
I just went through the entire Beatles digital catalog (as they now have made it available through streaming services) and one is simply amazed at the changes and growth of their "sound." Yes, this piece would nestle right into that early period.

I love the triple layering here .. you sounding like the Beatles imitating Buddy Holly. A great idea wonderfully executed. All I can say is "The Applesauce Project forever!"
