Description
I've been recording a bunch of guitar songs for a collection to be called "Guitar Noodle Soup" and this is one of them. I see there is a category called "Solo Instrument." This would go in "Plural Instruments."

Psychedelic Surf
All right Warren. For some reason this reminds me of the instrumentals Country Joe and the Fish did on their first album. Haven't thought about that sort of music for years but this took me right back there. Good work and glad to hear you out there expanding on your pallet of sound.

General familiarity
You know I don't think I have ever listened to a Country Joe & Fish album .. even though I've heard the "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die" song since Woodstock made them a fixture. Fortunately these days we have great access to old catalogs (I use the Rhapsody service) .. so because of your prompt I will check out these old psychedelic sounds .. some 40 years after the fact. I seem to do this more and more these days: listen to stuff I am familiar with in general but not in specific : )

oh thy tangled web...
of intersecting guitar voices... an original dreamlike sequence reflecting the musical mind of Warren. Nicely done, Mr. Smith.

Simply awesome
Reminds me of a night I spent in La Jolla, CA when after probably a few too many beers I stumbled into a small place where a band was playing that had a cute blonde girl play mandolin and another girl on violin and the two of them did something like this that blew my mind.

The violin girl would pluck and saw while the mandolin girl would twiddle back. It was pretty cool at least my somewhat foggy brain thought so.

Nicely done!

Stumbling around
Mark, a song that stirs up those kinds of old memories can't be all that bad! Thanks for sharing.

Inventive and intriguing, Warren. Your trademark ascending and descending chromatic runs tie the piece together. Nice playing, too. Artwork suits the song perfectly. Thanks.

I've got the runs
Of course the problem is .. when you start using chromatic runs as a regular element .. there can be a tendency to put them in everywhere. Maybe that's not a bad thing .. but there is always the potential problem of making it too much of a good thing. But what are you gonna do - stop? I think it's a style-thing that will eventually exhaust itself : )

Fascinating work
Art and music.

Never sure where it's going to go.

Wonderful interlinking lines.

Cheers

Going along for the ride
Yes, often I feel my art and music share similar creative tendencies. The artwork is a section of a ballpoint drawing which could just as well be titled "Accumulated Experiences." It started out pretty much the same way as this music piece did: a scratched out idea that developed shape and form as it went along .. during which I almost never knew where it was going .. so I just went along for the ride : )

Strange sounding guitars...
...that bend their way through this very unique number, leaving in their wake a very satisfying and whimsical track that's just fun to listen to. It's pretty "jam packed" with all sorts of tasty stuff. Your unique take on instrumentation and presentation are such a breath of fresh air to me. Nice.

Numbers game
Satisfying, for sure, but just how unique this is is difficulty for me to determine. As the guitar noodles accumulate, it gets harder to stylistically differentiate between them. I keep tweaking the sounds and varying the riffs and modifying the structures in an effort to stay fresh. You know how that goes when the numbers start to pile up : )

Core values
At the most basic level .. I'm a melody man. Theme and variations. Of course it becomes more complicated than that, but still that is the essential core of a noodle like this. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Ratio
Ha-ha .. I thought MacJams needed a break from my mellifluous vocal chords : )

I probably record ten to twenty musical pieces for every song that gets a finished set of lyrics, but my posting here doesn't reflect that ratio.

A nice entree to Guitar Noodle Soup. You have a quirky guitar style which works really well in a plural context.
