Lyrics
Edgar's raven croaks nevermore
Pecks an eyeball from the gore
Both sides lost, but who's keeping score?
Hail to the gods of war

Blood fills cracks in the killing floor
Feel the heat escape every pore
Flies flit in through an open door
Hail to the gods of war

Body snatchers, campfire whores
All tired out by their tedious chores
Sipping tasteless soup du jour
Hail to the gods of war

Boy
you slip em in fast! But at least every new rendition is noticeable better than the last in some or several way. lyrics fit fine, they even have an ominous tone to match the song.

Gods of War
Makes a strong point - the style suits the subject matter. Interesting arrangement. Good one!

Cheers, Philip
This is the second song where everything rhymes with "war". We may well end up doing a third. Thanks for listening.

A transformative experience
The original song continues to morph in interesting ways. And it sounds like there's room for another iteration .. and a new transformation. Where will it go next? Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

Love the battle portions of the music .. and those moments when the drums mimic a military tattoo.

Gods of War
I'm glad you are making a version for every god out there. You've got to play it safe :-) More restrained but equally as menacing. Warren's dark, descriptive lyrics work a treat. Like this. Thanks.

Plenty to choose from
Also, the night is dark and full of terrors. Cheers for the encouragement, Peter.

Hail to Gods of War
You guys kill me. The middle eight broke me up! That transition worked well, outstanding writing here!
Great team up guys. Always a good listen.

Thanks, Daug
I was amused by the notion of "soup du jour" in some sort of Game of Thrones battlefield. It would probably have been "slop du all the bleeding time" in reality. Thanks for the comments.

Words and music
work really well together - a slight King Crimson feel in there - I think it's the extreme distortion on the guitar. Warren's words always seem to have a life of their own. Good post.

"Lizard" is one of my favourite albums, particularly side 2, so no surprise there. Also I used the Devil's triangle. (It goes "PING!!!!")

Gods of War
Sweet intro with the guitar's ... this is a good combination with your music and Warrens words. I like the melody change at body snatchers and then the strange instrumental that takes you out ... the harmonics with the bells! it's all good

what a production
Like the snare and the way it keeps its self restrained up until the center it builds and things get serious cool chord progressions I dig the warren lyrics always a great song good to the last bell :)

Cheers, Mr E
It's not finished but David's contributions made it so much better than the earlier iteration I had to post it. And thanks to Warren for "soup du jour" which I would never have thought of.

Romantic rock entree...
How this goes from a light feel to the more heavy vibe is a trip. A trip, indeed. Well done, Graham (and Warren).

Ta very much
It's fun to collaborate, plus it speeds things up a lot. The five songs in this sequence are literally about a trip, too. Cheers, Jack.
