Description
Re-post of a song I put up a few days ago. There was a technical issue that I didn't pick up... Rookie mistake. Sorry.

Anyway, thanks to Philip, Sam and Stan who commented first time round.

Recorded this piece on a late 70's M. Suzuki SG-1 classical guitar that a mate of mine was throwing out...?

Needless to say I took it off his hands and spent some time and money bringing it back to life :-)

The instrumental evolved from some noodling that came to light when I was away on a fishing trip earlier in the year (with a guitar, of course!).

X/Y config AKG small diaphragm condensers about 20 cm away from 12th fret. Quite an intimate sound.

I actually think I can hear "into" the guitar and tell that it is not solid back and side but laminated.

Still came up okay, though, IMHO.

See what you think.

Thanks,

Peter.

Gentle tune, bright sound from the guitar. I like it! You've done well with that guitar, I think.

Flows along...
Not a fab progression, just a little thing to keep flowing. I waited for the middle eight and of course it arrive! Made the composition better.
Might I suggest you learn harp guitar techniques? Lenny and Chester would have sprinkled in the chimes and pings... I could hear them anyway.
Thanks for posting your outstanding guitar picking work work with us here!

My loss
Thanks, Daug. I appreciate the feedback. Lenny Breau? Hadn't heard of him till I searched round a bit. My loss. Fine player. I will look to filling the arrangement out a bit more. Take care.

Love and care
Thanks, Graham. You can't just throw old guitars away, can you? They all have something to offer. Especially if you give them a bit of love and care. Take care.

Thanks all
Thanks for listening and commenting. The cover band I am in is on a road trip this long weekend in Melbourne playing Saturday and Sunday night so I won't be around to comment. I will play catch up on Monday evening some time.

That friend of yours -
I'm happy to accept any throw outs from him any time Peter.
Lovely tune, well played, and very "late-night-in-front-of-the-fire" vibe.
Very enjoyable.
Cheers,
N

Sucker
Thanks, Neil. Late night, drift away music was the plan, so I'm glad it came across that way. I'm a sucker for an old guitar to try and resurrect. Take care, my friend.

Delightfully restful
The burbling of the water comes through in your gentle treatment here Peter. I find your touch is very accurate which is why you have such a clear tone. Nicely put together and recorded sir (and thanks for the addition to my library!)

Experiment
Very late replying... Sorry. Thanks, Doug. Glad you liked it. Bit of an experiment re recording this guitar, really. I will probably re-record it with added "fills" using my Angelus. Take care.

Intimate sound, indeed
You certainly achieved that, not so much, imho, by the placement of the mics, but more in the way you perform the piece. You have such a refined and gentle way with your instrument. It is always a pleasure to hear you play, this song easily standing with your other works as valuable additions to the genre of "serious" guitar works. Much enjoyed.

An exercise
Thanks, Sig. Just really an exercise in seeing how the guitar recorded. I am working on a few more fills and runs to give the piece a bit more interest. I appreciate your support, as always. Talk soon.

I enjoyed this simple and peaceful (fishing trips can do that to you) tune. Also enjoyed getting to hear your new, resurrected instrument get expressed.

Mandatory companion
Thanks, Greg. Yeah, I get away on fishing trips several times during the year and a guitar (and some fine red wine) is always a mandatory companion. This piece is still evolving but it has a structure I can work on so it should mature in the next 6 months or so. Thanks for dropping by. Take care.

Fishing for comments
I'm still trying to wrap my head around going fishing with a guitar .. and just what that means. Do you bring along the guitar and play it when taking breaks from fishing? To you bring it along and serenade the fish? Do you attach an extra string to the guitar and cast for fish with it? Or something else I am missing?

PeterB7858 said 423 days ago (August 22nd, 2016)
Music precluded by red wine...
There's really no strings attached here, Warren :-) The guitar comes out at the end of the day, mostly after the red wine has already been "breathing" for a while. We are too old to rough it too much, anymore. We tend to stay in pretty nice holiday houses for a week or so when we head off fishing. It's vaguely serious business while we are on the water but that is only so we don't start drinking til mid-afternoon :-). Thanks for dropping by.
